Congratulations for not asking Dinik in the first place and not being patient enough to let him do his own work in his own time. One icon not skinned as the rest doesnt mean "he's busy, so ill make a DIY icon so anyone can knock off his style"
I had around 18 icons not skinned (most I have posted, I have also done good HD Wall & Resco Snake icons too to complete my personal set, but don't feel I should post it now). It was rather more than "One icon not skinned as the rest", and I haven't knocked off the style, I haven't tried to hide the fact it is a copy of a well known icon.

All you had to do was ask, and respect his wishes, but now you have ruined it for everyone.
I sent my requests in like a lot of other people, I do have a request amongst that multi page thread of requests, but how long should I wait? Rather than pester to 'do my icons please', I just done my own. On doing such a good template for myself to use, I thought I would share it for others to complete their set. But apparently sharing things is bad all of a sudden.

To all those who think hes over reacting, well you have obviously never had any personal work stolen and or used / modified for someone elses benefit.
Hmm, "stolen and used / modified for someone elses benefit", other than having finally completed the icon set on my phone, how am I benefiting from this? Am I doing requests - no, am I requesting a donation "for a beer" - no...
And where do you think those icons beneath the template actually come from, do you think he actually made those from scratch? A lot of those icons come from other icon packs which can be downloaded from XDA. And what about the branded icons - do you honestly believe that Mr. Dinik has a filing cabinet of written approvals from software companies so he can use their icons?
(Sorry Dinik, you don't have this do you?)

If you did actually mean the apology, then you would take down this thread and then think about why hes pissed so much.
Really, this is the first request to remove my post I have encountered (other than Dinik) - is this really what I have to do?

Anyway, for the sake of everyone who likes Dinik's work, I think the best thing I can do is to remove the attached files from my thread.

@Dinik, naming and shaming me didn't work, the download hits for my template went right up after you done that and I seemed (surprisingly) to get more votes of support from people for doing this - I really thought I would get abuse from people (I think I have maybe been abused, just a little bit, once or twice on your threads...?).
Please reactivate your threads for the sake of everyone who likes your work.

One last request from me to you though, Dinik - please could you remove your silly big bold posts with my name on it from your threads? It just points people this way....

Cheers, Nick.

I've just spotted that this has developed into an issue, I spotted the OP last week and had a feeling it would though. ;)

To be honest there isn't a great deal I can add to to the very eloquent and restrained replies from nniicckkss and stained-steel.

All I would say is that IMO dinik is in danger of going from one of the most respected artist/designers on here to a bit of a joke in the space of a few days. Your work is some of the most attractive on here and used more than virtually anyone elses, you should take pride in that and in the fact that of course others are going to want to imitate or modify your work. There is a saying/cliche in the UK (not sure how well it translates to other tongues)....................Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Niicckkss hasn't set out to take credit for your work and I'd imagine the only reason he didn't mention you in the OP is your slightly precious attitude in your original thread. Nobody is going to look at these icons and think "Niicckkss" anyone who is on here knows that slick rounded glass icons and themes are either yours or are inspired by you, take pride in that and accept that others without your skills are going to want to "borrow" your work.

As I started out by saying, at the minute you are currently one of the most respected designers on here and your work is admired by many. If I were in your shoes I'd want to continue with that whether on precisely my terms or otherwise. Or would you rather continue down the route you are going and in the future anyone throwing a bit of a hissy-fit on here to be known as "doing a Dinik".

i get your point and others...but why you dont get my?!
is it so hard to respect and follow some wishes from an artist? does an artist have no rights here? when you ask someone for a cigarette...and he dont give it to you...do you take it anyway?
copying modifying or whatever....is not ok...if an artist tels in his thread that its not ok for him...thats just wrong i anyway.

We are aware of this thread as it has been reported.

We are in touch with all involved to work out an amicable solution.

In the meantime could we hold off on the provocative comments and off topic posts please.

Thanks

I really don't blame nniicckkss for posting the template, as having a incomplete theme is horrible when you compare the other icons. I use the HD theme, and have created many icons myself to match it, even did post some in the HD2 theme thread, but I did stop after Dinik posted his rules.

I do see and agree with the points made here, I even see and agree with Diniks post about respecting his rules - even if I don't agree with them as I do feel people should be able to complete all the icons on their phones to make the theme worthy of its development, other wise it looks incomplete.
There are LOADS of apps out there, and as it has been stated, some that even only 1 user might use, will he see that icon made?

As for the HD2 theme, as all development has gone into the Anastasia one, the HD2 one hasn't seen an updates in a while, with lots of people still requesting and posting other icons.

What would be wrong in using peoples own developed icons for your theme and including them in your package? Easing the work load for yourself, and then the community would also be contributing to YOUR work and package to make it even more complete etc.

I can see and agree with both 'arguments'.

nniicckkss, I'm with you and many others as well. I would put your work back up especially not that Dinik has taken his down. Many of us are in similar situation and want a complete icon set so I appreciate what you were trying to do.

Carry on my friend
