no bleed. but take a few more:good:
also, if possible, take some pics of your lenses with a dslr camera (if you have one) and post it here for us.
Whats the manufacture date of your phone?

This one loos like LED bleed to me - everything is washed out.

There's a paper tab inside the SIM card slot, under the tray, with a notch in it. There should be a build number in the upper right: 14w20, as an example, is one made in week 20 of 2014 (between May 12-18). Some Xperia devices made in certain weeks (or in the case of the Z1 Compact, before certain sates) have hardware issues. The problem with bleed was supposed to be fixed with newer batches.

I thiink that one is caused by superior auto because in the same scene with manual mode, theres no bleed

My MFG is 14w23

Just checked mine, 14W24 -> no bleed. It seems the chrome ring around the camera was modified, on my Z1 it is higher than shown in the first post. My Z1C is a black one btw, purchased 5 days ago at Amazon Germany.

EDIT: Attached a pic of mine.

yeah i would say you got a fixed one. lucky you.
not only this but sony germany has already recognized and change the back/ring of devices that went to sony service center and fixed the bug, too.

I have my Z1C since 2 months and also the bleed. Sony now suggested to do a Software repair - which indeed will not solve the Problem.
Because I have warranty I think to send it to Sony repair. What do I have to tell Sony, so that they will repair it? Is there any document which describes this failure and which I can refer to?

i think it depends on where you are. you can try to ask them to change the back panel to a new one and hope its fixed one. but not to much can be done i guess

Worked on my Lime Z1c!
Painted a little of the chrome and accidently a little of the lens itself, but out of the optical path.
Works perfect!!

i sent my z1c in for repair 2 weeks ago to fix led flash bleed. I said to them that according to the web, sony are aware of the problem and i specifically mentioned that changing the back panel will fix the problem. 1 week later repair completed with new back panel and no more led bleed. they replaced the plastic frame inside phone too.

repair was done by SBE LTD, authorised sony repair centre in the UK

My solution

Ok guys, got used xperia z1 few weeks ago, but i got this flash bleeding problem, so i was reading about this fix with black permanent pen and for me it didn't work. So I have noticed that the problem was light penetration under the back cover that was reaching the lens, so what I did was this: since the phone was already opened (screen was replaced or something) and I knew that its not waterproof anymore so i didn't care about messing with it (and I payed 100 euro for it) i managed to carefully remove the back of the phone with a guitar pick, when removed i noticed that the foam sticker that is separating flash from lens is not thick enough. So since i am into graphic design and things, I took a piece of black matte self adhesive pvc vinyl that is used for cutter ploter for sign making and used that punch thing that makes 2 holes in paper for putting it in a folder to make perfect circle that is almost exactly the size of the lens, then I cut square around it and stick it on lens (lens is in the middle of the punched hole) i applied 2 of those stickers so they would be thicker and more light resistant, then i took pvc vinyl small pieces around it for more protection, and now everything is just fine, flash is working great, and no bleeding any more. And to mention that I have get back cover sticked again with double sided self adhesive tape for sticking carpets onto floors.

Can anyone with a glass back panel (from the Japan S02 version) confirm that they don't have the flash bleed? I've read somewhere that replacing the plastic back with the glass one fixes this. Anyone?

those who can't get a fine enought pen,
they can use a toothpick and rimmel (eyelashes paint).

Another option can be black acne mask, and also a toothpick, you put it in the borders, let it dry 20 minutes, and it becomes a sticked black rubber blocking the light.
