Do you think ICS will make things any better for us/the Sensation?

Tsk tsk

My sensation is the best phone I have ever owned the build quality in regards to the toughness of the device is amazing. I have ran my sensation over a while ago by accident when I looked at it there was a dirt tire mark on the screen protector the actual screen still remained unharmed though the camera lens cover shatter but still worked flawlessly I do however hate the poor performing speaker only true problem for me aside from lockscreen malfunction everything else it performs better than my sky4g did better than my nexus s did in certain areas

well, i don´t think ics will remove the "dust under display"-issue or improve the speaker or increase the ram or increase the storage.....so who cares?

so the only things that keep me from buying this boy are all hardwarewise
little scared of all the "issue this, issue that" threads

Ok let me try and explain... Here is what you said:

How many versions are there of the iPhone? Or even the Galaxy? It's common to release a phone and then revamp and add additional options. Just like cars. Not sure if you're big into Dom/Import, but every car model has several different lines. They don't make us a phone for good, they make one to appeal to a general audience and then through feedback and testing groups release a new model with additional functionality. Happens all the time.

See the issue isn't with the phone or the MFR, the issue is when you bought your phone. We all knew ICS was coming. It's been a topic of discussion, since February? So how recently did you buy your phone? You, everyone with an HTC Sensation, and I bought the phone knowing that the tech was going to change and that there would be a new OS around the corner. If you were smart though you got a phone with dual-core so it would be in the lineup for ICS.

U still fail to understand what I mean. Of course I knew my Sensation would be outdated by the time ICS arrives. If u're gonna wait for better tech u're gonna wait forever, and I already waited 3 months for the Sensation to arrive instead of getting a Desire HD. I just want them to make the most of the technology inside of it which is not the case here.

What I was trying to say is this: The Sensation could be a nice phone if HTC devoted more resources to it's Software/driver developement. My hope is that ICS will magically transform it into a pocketrocket. However, seeing how HTC even now seems to forgo Sensation development in favor of newer models I am doubtful if they will really put enough effort into making the phone use all it's potential with ICS. With 2.3.3 the phone was unusable, dead after 12h slight use and always getting hot. 2.3.4 Improved things A LOT. Still not perfect, so I was hoping for further software improvements that don't seem to come anymore and to be honest, the devs here can do only so much if HTC isn't provding proper original drivers.

Anyways it seems I am alone with my concerns and issues, which is fine. People get way too worked up in this thread. If me complaining about problems that, apparently, not all but many do have/notice, angers you so much, why do you even read and post here? AFAIK I am allowed to speak my mind and exchange experiences with whomever I wish and I force no one to come and read here. If you love your phone so much you have to go trolling on people who don't, go make love with it all night, but don't get aroused over ppl who don't have a sexual relationship with their phones.

I hoped we could discuss what ICS could possibly improve as there certainly is room for improvement. Instead 90% of posts is like "Go sell your phone you whiner". Not cool.
Close the thread MOD. You killed off all the ICS development threads, why are you not killing this i phone whiner?
I'm sure Putin said something simillar to Medjedew after watching all the Russian protestants on the streets.

I have no dust under my screen, storage is enough with a 32gb card and Ram could be more but honestly I have newer experienced problems/conflicts because of too little Ram (always more than 100mb fee/unused).
My only issue is the sub-par overall performance which I think is due to poor software design from HTC.
Also, the power button will ultimately go faulty after few months. HTC fixes it with a software workaround in the kernel, but only HTCs and show-p's kernel have the fix. U will still have it in CWM or AOSP Roms/kernels.

Guys is noone reading my posts properly? I am not complining about battery life per se. It's ok for me, plus I have 3 batteries. What sucks is that the phone can't display the correct battery readings, meaning it tells you it's 100% while in fact it's really 90something. Or you have 37% left and after rebooting its magically up to 49% os something like that.

All roms have this
I had the same problem with my stock battery so i decided to get Anker one (1900 mAh)as you all know 1520 mAh is not good enough , i was rather surprised to find out that readings are similar e.g. " 37% left and after rebooting its magically up to 49% os something like that." It is something that doesent bother me enough, rather amuse me on daily bases. So something is fishy with my Sensation... But still i do HOPE that ICS will sort this problem out
In regard to tones, i find solution for it, Volumed_Tones_Sensation try it and you'll be amazed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287058&page=4

It's really sad how much people develop a gang mentality in order to censor opinions they don't want to see. I've seen this in many many forums where talking at all negatively about the product at hand is basically the third rail of the forum. It's like people think that if they collectively claim that a complainer is a troll, he is, no matter how legitimate his reasoning is and how sincere he is in desiring a discussion.

Let the guy speak, he's not the only one who feels this way (I think the sensation is a 7/10), and attempting to censor complaints just makes it seem like you were regretful about your purchase and are trying to hide that you feel the same way.

I think ICS will make my sensation much faster. I can't understand ,why others people are thinking that sensation is a bad phone.

Interesting, that's the first time I've heard that. Most, including myself, think Android 4.0 looks great and has a clean, upgraded UI. The name is childish though, so I'll keep calling it Android 4.0.

Meh

I don't know about you, but I run CM7. Its pretty decent and fast. When I originally got the phone, I wanted to get a Galaxy SII, but in all honesty, its just speeds. In a few months, a phone faster than the Galaxy SII is going to come out, and an even faster one after that. The HTC Sensation is a good phone, but HTC doesn't bother to polish its OS so it works in sync with their phones.

I like My sensation very much. I still think it is the best phone out there. Yes, there are other phones with better specs, but I find them ugly. I never considered the sensation as slow, laggy or buggy. Other than the dust under the screen, I have no complaints. I am liking the htc edge design and spec though, but not too sure about the size just yet.

I voted it 1 to offset that. Sure, he was stating his grievances, but he did so in a long, drawn out douchey way. He said our Sensations have sluggish performance. Sluggish? Seriously? That new LG Nitro HD is sluggish. The G1 is sluggish. The Sensation? A bit of lag every now and then. So OP feels he should take that and exaggerate it negatively in a forum literally full of Sensation lovers. Not a good idea.

Same for his battery jumping issues. That's caused by users improperly charging their batteries. That's his fault.

-Camera. Nothing in particular except that it is not as good as I expected and it lacks some features even my old Sony Ericsson k800i had like burst mode etc. Yes you can have it if you install the camera apk from a different htc phone but there usually are compatibility problems. Plus, why can't my phone have a decent camera app of its own? Too much to ask, HTC? Guess their priorities are elsewhere.
This pisses me off a lot. Just because it lacks some features like burst shot (as the OP stated), it's suddenly less than decent? Take away 50% of it's features and it's still "decent". Plus, as the OP said, you can easily install a different camera apk and fix the issue entirely, so now the OP is just bitching to *****.

Oh, and the last issue I feel like typing out, calling it half-baked. Seriously? It has a few issues for a few people, and we're gonna call it half-baked? Please. I have no issues with this phone, and I run AOSP. It's fast, graphically appealing, and I've had none of the OPs issues. Even when I go back to any of our awesome developers' Sense roms, it's smooth and fast. No issues, whatsoever, yet it's "half-baked". Just, no.

"This pisses me off a lot." Really? I mean srsly, you get pissed off by someone u don't know saying something on the internet about a phone you own?

I just had to double check I'm not in the Apple Fanyboys thread, but it still says "HTC Sensation > Sensation General" on top.

Oh well you made my day bro :D Have a nice one!

@ arzbhatia: Thanks, I might give it a shot! However, this probably still uses the same old Firmware/Hardware drivers just with a nicer OS on top. Dunno how much improvement there will be

I totally agree with you(OP)! I also was a HTC fanboy, but when I had the choice to buy either the sensation or the SG2 even tho they said that the sg2 was better. I bought the sensation, and what a surprise I got.

It is rubish! I mean it seems that HTC wanted to make some plane easy money, because the Sensation is great in a few weeks, but after that it just goes down. The issues with the sensation is just massive! And the worst part is that it seems that HTC doesn't give a S*** about it. But what I did was, sending my phone back, luckily the power button issue is gone now, but for how long?

I also agree with you that HTC is too busy being one of the BIG companies that produces many good phones. But the only thing they have done is, make many phones that just plane rubbish. I am not sure, but the sound issue, when you record with the sensation is still even in the newest HTC phone (the rezound). AND only that makes me want to HTC in the balls, I mean honestly, It's okay to make a mistake, but not even listening to the costumers and made the sound better is just plane dumb.

What HTC have done is lost a fanboy, and I am sorry, but this phone is just so wrong. The only good thing about it is the build quality, but also that have it's issues. The wears out fast! I got that casemate on, and what it have done is wear out some edges on my phones original case.

I even fell sorry for my parents spending those money on my birthday present, but I am gonna keep it and hope for HTC to do something about it. I am gonna wait for the SG3, I hope it is well worth the wait.

But for now I can say that this is my very last phone from HTC.

OK for me

I'm really sorry for those of you have have had these issues, but for me, all I can say is that since I ditched years of Sony Ericson for my first HTC, the Desire, moved up to the Desire HD and now have a Sensation XE all I have experienced are well built, reliable, fast, efficient phones. Solid, quality phones with great specs.... and not a single issue :)
