Dodgy device? Or are these bugs still live...

Well I've had my Lumia for 3 days now. First 2 days were fine then today seems to have brought to light a load of bugs. It arrived pre-loaded with 12070 rev software and plugging into zune says im currently up to date.

1) When listening to music over headphones and I receive a text, the music volume seems to increase a notch or two. Not a lot just a little.

2) I've got the volume bug. First couple of rings are really loud then it goes quiet. If I plug my phone into charger that blares out at full volume as does the criticaly low battery noise. Interestingly if I set my volume to 8 or above it doesn't happen.

3) I couldn't end a call today. Just hung on "Ending call" until I switched the phone off.

Which leads me to 4....

4) When i turned the phone back on it said battery critically low. Before i turned it off I had some juice left.. maybe 15-20%. I went to battery saver and it was showing 10%. It then turned itself off with the "goodbye" message and was flat. I've got it on charge now and it's on and working.

Now from searching I see that the volume bug is supposedly fixed in 12072. But I was under the impression that things like the call ending bug were fixed ages ago? Has anyone on Orange UK received the 12072 update?

Does this sound "normal" or have I been sent a duff device do you think?

Cheers.

I sometimes experience the volume bug still with FW 12072 too... Your 4th point isn't a bug I'd think. Your battery was low (15-20%) and you have rebooted the phone. Rebooting costs quite some juice, so it's possible it went all the way down to 10%. Then it turned itself off, because the battery was empty, though it still showed 10%. That's possible, because it's a new device, your battery still needs to calibrate for more accurate numbers.

Thanks for the info. I guessed the battery might be something to do with that. The one I'm most worried by is the call not ending as that was supposed to have been fixed some time ago.

Is 12072FW meant to be out to everyone? Or is it just Orange UK being really slow with the updates again? (My Omnia 7 is still on OS vers 7740!)

Indeed, the end-call bug should have been fixed already. I don't make a lot of calls, so haven't tested it yet.

The 12072 FW was a fix for Vodafone because they refused to roll out the 12070 variant. I don't know if it has been released to other Lumia 800's and honestly I don't really care ;) Because I don't have Vodafone as well, you can just install the update with the CAB sender method ;)

Ah right, interesting. To be honest the volume bug I can live with for now. My phone stays on silent at work anyway. It's just the call end one... I'll see how it goes and if it persists I'll get it changed.

There's a chance they fixed it when Windows Phone Tango / Mango Refresh will be released. This is planned in the first half of June.

Yup, I guessed Tango would be here soon. Hoping all the bugs will be ironed out in that. In fairness the battery life is better than my Omnia 7 and the camera also seems better so at least those two initial bugs don't seem to affect me.

Otherwise it's a stunning device. It's so much nicer to use than my Omnia 7.

We'll see what Tango will bring us ;) And to be honest, I have a Omnia 7 around somewhere here as well, and I like it too. I like it's screen size, but it can't beat the delicious design of the Lumia 800 which is my primary device :)

Yeh the Omnia 7 was nice (even though mine had a really crippling data problem). I thought I would miss the larger screen but I really haven't noticed it. I have pretty small hands too so this has been really nice to use! The 900 was just too big for my tastes.
