I can only Partially answer this question
I've installed it on OMNI Gamer 4.4.4 and CM12.1 and both technically work but occasionally close themselves, but if you aren't prepared to buy a new phone they work well enough to get by.

No our s3 mini is cheapest version of Galaxy S3 yes you said it's not very powerful one more then s3:crying:

I there, try to make root, install GLTools and reduce graphic to a low level (chech tuturials in youtube) and then unroot and play.
I have a similar phone with only 1GB Ram and game works with less lag.
