Disconnect wifi and try and get directions.Just fired up the Maps app on my WiFi-only Xoom - worked real quick. I would say 95% it's "real" GPS.
Maps also says "Location set by GPS"
I just tried that on mine and it kept saying "location temporarily unavailable." I let it try to find some satellites for a little bit, but no luck. Tested outside with clear view to the sky. Maybe the sdcard update will turn on the GPS also.Disconnect wifi...
It has GPS but gets the maps from the web. If you have a rooted android phone it is easy to have web access anywhere.Disconnect wifi and try and get directions.

Hmmmm, my GPS doesn't seem to work. This is after 5 minutes of having the 3rd party app running:

On GSM voice and data are separate infrastructure, thats why AT&T does not have data everywhere they have voice. With CDMA they use the same infrastructure therefore data is everywhere voice is. I believe the new LTE resolves this limitation.thats because of CDMA limitations. GSM networks do data+voice simultaneously.
On LTE everything is pretty much treated as data - including voice. Glorified SIP calling is where we are headed. On GSM voice and data are separate infrastructure, thats why AT&T does not have data everywhere they have voice.
