Does Z3's magnetic charging port works even if the device is turned off?

My Z3's charging port is busted. Now I can't find a way to boot up my phone except for charging using the magnetic charging port. Can anyone here try charging their Z3 while its shut down using the magnetic charger? I just want to make sure before buying a charging cable. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply! I bought an micro-usb to magnetic charging converter. Hope it works. Will update here later just in case if someone have the same case as me this can help. Thanks again.
