Hello,

Newbie here... I have followed this forum for three days trying to get my Note ii Verizon to boot any ROM. I am only able to get it into Odin Download mode (never been able to get the System Restore Menu). Not sure what this device was originally flashed with but I can't get any bootrom to install.

I have tried the first steps and download the files poseted on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043636 and get the folllowing failure:

<ID:0/006> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> BootloaderBaseline2.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/006> Initialzation..
<ID:0/006> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/006> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/006> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/006> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/006> boot.img
<ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/006> recovery.img
<ID:0/006> tz.img
<ID:0/006> sboot.bin
<ID:0/006> FAIL!
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

Phone now gives the following message: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"

The only successful Rom I have partial success with is: KIES_HOME_I605VRAMC3_I605VZWAMC3_1098177_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.
Odin 185 will install this rom successfully with the PIT. Not the phone will not boot and flashes the Galaxy Note II then turns off. It will only allow me to go back into Bootloader Mode but has never allowed me to get into recovery and wipe the phone. Boot Load screen shows everything stock except the "SYSTEM STATUS: Custom". Since I do not know what ROM was originally installed I am stuck on this one and insight would greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
You will need SBOOT, TZ, Recovery, Boot and System. Download a new copy of an Odin ROM. You cant just write anything to your device. that is the old way and that thread is obosolete

Hi Adam,

I watched this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9u11EyOaBY
Would you be kind enough to provide me links to the correct/current files I need to download for an SCH-i605?

Also a link to your teams donation site for all your efforts. I am extremely impressed with your teams progress and feel all trollers should donate and assist with the amazing progress you have brought to "open systems" when they are not truly open systems. Without your contributions most users wouldn't have a clue to what the possibilities are and the pain staking hours that go into providing solutions.

Thanks!

J.

Reading you're other posts, to get your phone back, you need to odin to stock, then unlock.

Odin to stock vramc3 with droidstyle's guide.

Adam, am I correct that I should be looking for a file called REVISION1.TGZ to put in the PDA section? Is that correct? Can you please provide a link? Thank you.

Update

no. follow the directions in Original Development "No You Verizon"
I have to run out the door and visit your site this evening but I added you to my circle. Here is an update: I successfully flashed another Note II over the weekend and have verified my computer, cable and USB ports are working fine.

I read one article that stated the ROM might be "read only" and I'm unsure how to get around this problem. Here is my situation... I can SUCCESSFULLY flash my rom (according to Ordin) but when my phone goes to reboot it simply turns off. I am also unable to get to the "system recovery menu" and reset the device.Three other things that need to be known are: 1. I cannot get into "System Recovery" 2. When the data cable is connected the battery icon shows with a circle (I swapped the logic/motherboard with another Note II and have the same results) 3. I tried running Casual with your latest software but since I cannot boot the phone there is no way for me to turn on USB Debugging... or is there a "workaround"?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Adam!

Always good to root, even if you stay stock rom.
This is untrue. Dont misinform people like that. Rooting is good of you want the extra options but comes with risks such as breaking your phone beyond repair. Also voids warranty and trips flash counter which is how they tell if you rooted it then restored to replace it. Before rooting please take the time to read up on the good the bad and the ugly. Do t just jump forward into it.

Wasn't aware rooting trips the flash counter...are you referring to the one in download mode or something different? I'm rooted and the binaries and system status show stock/official...

So after OTA can we get root?
The way I understand it the bootloader is now locked if you took OTA and there is no fix for it. Root maybe possible BUT you cant flash any roms or anything to it and if there happens to be another OTA while your rooted you most likely will be bricked with no fix. But maybe Beans or someone will get the bootloader worked out.

I'm beginning to feel I made a poor decision taking the ota. This is my first phone I haven't rooted and I almost immediately regret it.

The new update includes knox security flags that is used for BYOD for corporations to secure phones for their employees.. Sort of like BlackBerry... Once this flag is tripped it may render your device useless.. So now a group of highly talented people like Adam are looking at it.. No guarantee but gotta keep hope

And yet another reason I don't bother hooking my phone up to corporate email. If you want me 24x7 on corporate email, you can provide me a device. Otherwise, I'll login to email via the web assuming you've at least provided that access.
