On my S3 i got notice of OTA put it off but somehow during the night it updated itself without me saying anything
My phone is my alarm...Need it on at night.

I find it odd that the update has been out for several days and I have had no notification on my phone about it.

I haven't got a notification either. I didn't think much of it though because if you ever check out verizon forums you'd see that A LOT of devices seem to not get these updates pushed to them......ever.

I'm currently running the stock VRALJB ROM, but do have it rooted, unlocked bootloader, CWM, and custom Kernel installed.
Yesterday when the VRALL4 OTA message popped up, it had an option to Defer or Reject. But tonight it only had the option to Defer, and made me select a date and time (limited within 5 day) to install the update.
Is there a way to permanently put the OTA update off? I really don't want it installed and loose root/unlocked status.

EDIT:
I saw above to remove the SDM app, so I uninstalled it with ROM Toolbox, since Titanium Backup wouldn't let me unless I updated to the Pro version. Now when I click on Software Update, it just sits there for a few seconds and then says Settings has stopped, and goes back to the home screen.

I have a teamwin unlocked bootloader and a rooted rom (I don't remember which, but it's just the stock + root), when the OTA update attempted to be installed it brought me to the teamwin bootloader, I hit reset and it pops up a window saying it failed when the device successfully resets. That's was before I read this thread and realized the OTA update was poison. I guess it's a good thing it didn't install. What is the best way to move forward from here with out being relentlessly annoyed even if it can't actually install?

The latest update downloaded when I tried to switch roms...not sure what happened, but it was probably user error (aka me).
I used the the unlocked bootloader version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040264. Didn't use the .pit and got back to Android version 4.1.1. I am going to attempt to root it and we'll see how that goes.

***Update***

So I tried to root and when I reboot after using Odin, the phone starts updating before I can get to the start menu. Any suggestions would be helpful now.

***Update 2***

Finally fixed! I flashed back to stock using the unlocked bootloader version, waited for the Android to update (prior to getting to the start screen) and then used Adam's method via Casual http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043636. My Note 2 is now rooted and running a custom rom.

I knew they would do this. I say the update and had to chuckle a little because there was no way I was pressing okay before coming here and seeing how they screwed us this time. Thanks again for your hard work, Adam!

I'm so sad. I stupidly pressed on "defer" and I got a message saying the update will be done in a few days. I don't know what to do. What should I do? I'm rooted already. I like the stock ROM btw.

Regards-

Damn, I just got that screen. No more reject. Seems like Verizon is trying to force this update now.

Yeah. Its getting pretty annoying. I'm getting it almost every time I back out of an application.

I love how I spend $700 for a phone that is mine and this sh*t it going on.
