I believe the Pixel released in October? If so, is it uncommon for OEM's to release their new phone earlier than one year?

Has there been any official statements regarding if there will be a Pixel 2?

Based on the past two years, it's probably reasonable to guess a similar timeframe to when this phone came out. Last year the speculation was for an earlier release, due to the Android 7 schedule, and it ended up being somewhat similar to the prior year. The Pixel and Nexus phone announcement and release dates for the past couple years show up here.
