It just occurred to me that the mods aren't doing their job if they are closing threads? I was a mod once on ibelite (old long dead site now) and it would be lazy to close threads because its "to hard" instead of cleaning it properly. Seriously on whirlpool the mods hide posts(or remove)and or warn users not close threads.

This would be a non issue if mods did their jobs.

I don't know how many posts make their way onto XDA on a daily basis but I bet it is well into the tens of thousands - I have some sympathy for the Mods in terms of trying to stay on top of all the turds floating in the communal pool.

That said, there appears to little in the way of consequences for regular transgressors other than occasional threats. The odd public flogging (metaphorically speaking, of course) in the town square might help keep the more unruly villagers in line.

Knowing that there are laws is one thing, seeing those laws enforced is quite another.

I feel like this is all targeted to CM9/ICS development, so let me answer this.
Hey people, calm down. We don't feel like gods at all, I can understand why you're mad, but hey, it's community's fault !
We spend hours and hours trying to bring AOSP experience to this device (and some others), and it's hard given the number of things Samsung doesn't do using Android standards. It's taking a lot of our free time, and gives us a lot of headaches.

That's one fact.

Now, you guys begged us to get an alpha, we gave it to you. What did we get in return ? The right to answers 1000000000 times the SAME questions. We made a Wiki, an FAQ, people STILL asks for dumb questions. They can't use google, they can't search a topic, they can't read, and they beg us to get an answer to their dumb questions. It's okay the first, second, third time... But when it's ALWAYS ALL TIME TIME the SAME, it gets boring, we get mad and arrogant, because we're doing all this stuff for YOU, and you can't even use the Thanks button properly. No, you come here and complain "Why **** doesn't work !!??", and you keep asking at EACH RELEASE if the SAME thing works or not, because you can't read the ChangeLog, or Google for specific terms that are inside it (like the Vendor libraries thing).

When you'll respect us, by doing a bit of work on your side, we'll get nicer. Codeworkx said it's your fault, and he's right.

XpLoDWilD is absolutely correct...I don't post very often unless it's a "Thanks, everything worked fine!" or if it's an explanation to how to get something to work that I've found that works for me. Often I find myself reading the same things over and over in my subscribed threads and it's pissing me off. Anyone who doesn't bother reading the changelog at the very least is a massive idiot.

In reality these wonderful dev's don't owe us **** and we should be grateful and respect that their time and effort has gone into developing some fantastic stuff. Stuff they didn't even have to release to the public, and that is the key point here.

I mean how hard is it to read a few pages of 1 line posts at the end of the topic and the OP with the changelog to see what works before you consider flashing something?

Is it that hard to follow instructions given in the OP for flashing said mod/rom/whatever?

I can understand all the new users being curious about what they can get out of their new smartphone, I was one of you about a year ago when I got an awful Samsung Galaxy 3 (Apollo) and wanted to be able to play music without it stuttering..lol..so I did some research and some flashing..sure it cocked up a few times but they were always MY FAULT for doing something wrong.

I've seen over the past year this place get filled with more and more 'zomg my phone is f00ked!!' posts...my advice to devs...stop helping them :).

If they want to fix it, just let them figure it out. Especially if you know it's something that can be fixed easily by following the instructions in OP or if it's already a bug in the changelog.

Just deny their daft questions existance in your mind and they will eventually figure out what they've done wrong all by themselves like I did.

No we don't act as if we are superior gods. You make your posts without common sense. Instead of READING THE CHANGELOG or LIST OF BUGS, you ask stupid questions like "y my utube doesnt work on this rom, it worked on cm7". Why cant just READ THE ****** CHANGELOG!!! We set up a wiki, an faq, the changelog is always there, list of bugs always there, and yet you still ask stupid questions.

Even aside from whether you bother to read anything, you were warned that no questions would have to be answered and that it was an experimental rom. You ask your questions as if we said "This is a fully stable rom and there are 0 bugs".

Then to add on to the whole thing, users take our rom, add "ro.performance.tuning=1" to the build.prop and call it their own. For a start that isn't a real setting, its just something he made up. Then rather than donating to the real devs, you donate to him so he can buy more ram.

I'm not asking anyone for money, but when you users think that a build.prop mod is worth a donation and our full rom isn't then it really pisses us off.

We spend MONTHS do get the whole thing working and I can tell you it wasn't easy at all. Some of you complain about how it is closed-source, not because you are devs, because you know someone will come and compile the rom for you and you can finally test it. And then when we finally release the rom, you users start complaining about how things don't work and how we should fix them. You send donations to a build.prop mod. You now complain about how we are treating the users and closing the threads.

We do this in our free time, and we enjoy doing it. It is fun at times. But what makes us want to keep going when you users don't respect what we do?

Sounds about right to me. I am getting really sick and tired of seeing devs get crapped all over by ungrateful brats. I have seen these devs, specifically CM devs, spend so much time holding the hands of a bunch of morons too stupid or too entitled to read, that they get burnt out. Then they get the "arrogant" and "rude" attitudes people complain about. The only questions I have ever posted were about things I had already spent hours searching for myself, and I have yet to brick a device. That shows it can be done if you'll put in the time. And the argument of "I don't have time to read through xxx number of pages" is BS. If you have time to flash a custom ROM on your phone, you NEED to make the time to research it. If you can't do that, get the hell off of these forums. Its really supposed to be a DEV community anyway.

And FFS, read the GD first post and last 15-20 posts if you don't read anything else!

And quit crapping on the developers, they're doing this for free!

Bottom line is people just cant talk to anyone any damn way they feel. This is not a site to make people popular. Hell I dont give a **** how many people use the kernel, rom, mod, or hack. Act like a fool and you deserve to be banned for good. The rules are here for a reason. Either follow them or leave, your chose.

Now I have had to hold my tounge on this for a while but no longer.
XDA is a developers site
XDA is a free forum you are ALLOWED to use. We could make it invite only
XDA is and always will be about the developers. And before you say without the users there would be no XDA, Bull****, who do you think used the stuff before normal people even knew what a smartphone was......wait for it.........other developers. People that could give good feedback with relavent info. Not just "dahhh this is broken, please fix".

XDA is not a place to come and make your phone cool.
XDA is not the cool place for idiots to hang out.
XDA is not your friends house
XDA is not a democracy
XDA is not a place to make Money.

XDA IS a place to come to learn and share your knowledge. If you are not here for those reasons then you are here for the wrong ones.

I have watched XDA become a place where every dumbass in the world has a smartphone and comes here thinking they have the right to anything. Well guess what? You dont have the right to ****. We share it because we want to and we dont if we dont feel like it. Are the Developers or the Mods required to make you happy? Nope not in the least. Wanna leave. Go ahead. I beg you, please do. The less people that are asking dumb question cause they dont know what they are doing (this is understood when your new, but at least look) or are too lazy to look for it the better.

Dont like what I have to say? I am sorry you must have mistaken me for someone that gives a ****.

Originally posted on a different thread by a Moderator called Zelendel and everything he says is spot on. Now for the love of god end this now and foremost this thread is not contributing nothing to the community only people just whining and moaning...Read this post get to grips with what XDA really stands for and if people do not like it then just get the hell out of here. Mods have a hard time as it is already trying to keep up here no need to make matters worse for them.

And on that note thread should be closed to avoid all this

... But when it's ALWAYS ALL TIME TIME the SAME, it gets boring, we get mad and arrogant, because we're doing all this stuff for YOU...

...We do this in our free time, and we enjoy doing it. It is fun at times..

I find all this discussion a little childish, sure, it's not that hard to read op, F.A.Q, wiki and so on, it's not that hard to search...can't be that hard to just ignore stupid questions/comments either. XDA has 4,189,357 members, you can expect all that comes, from **** to ultra positive stuff: kind and responsive developers, little growing Hacres, fake developers, cheaters, racists, dumbasses, brilliant people, idiots, retarded, genius, and so on...If you can't understand that without opening useless threads or whining all the time about this and about that, pretending to able to have full control, well, XDA is not for you. XDA will not die for some disappointed developers, others will come, will not suffer for some lazy user, I read stuff about XDA been an awful place since I became a member, at that time we were barely 1 million.

Sorry for my english guys.

15. Keep posts/threads on-topic

Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.

The attitudes of other users is not relevant to the Galaxy S II I9100.

This will be the last one of these threads I close, from now on they will be deleted/infracted.

There is a couple of threads started by the main Devs, that have been closed lately.
All b´coz ignorant and stupid ppl keep asking the same quiestions over again.Since they are superiour at devoloping roms, but have a hard time getting same questions all the time shuffeld upon them, time over time, the treads gets closed all the time to us uber users sad disapointment. If i had the power i would shoot all the wrong posters in the head, but i dont have the the power to do that. This is not a democracy, soo think before u post any stupid question that might offend the allmighty devs,or the treads might get closed.Remember,You are in the hands of the Devs, they have ALL the might to shut u down,We are ALL in the hands of the allmighty DEVS.
So ask ur self, can u live without the roms, can your life continue with an originar rom from lets say Samsung?Or are u here bcoz of ur curiosity? Are u here bcoz of the fun of trying lotz of diffrent roms?OR as me,just to try out something else?
I for sure can live with out the roms that codeworkz and he´s friends develop.Would my life be porer with out their roms?Nah dont think so,if there only were TW roms i would still be fine, but the option to choose is always better.Do i feel the need to kiss some devs ass to get googles latest, with all the bugs and annoying faults?Sure not.Im 40 years old,ive learned to hold my breath, theres no greener grass on the other side.My phone will still function as intended even without major Devs roms.
So,do i dont appriciate the work they do for free?Hell yes i do!For free?Well, some of us guys do donate,so for free isnt true.
Do i think Devs should be treated like gods?Nope,i think they should live by the same rules as all of us do,threat others with respect.!

Enough already with this high-school melodramatic bull****. Let the developers develop however the hell they want to develop, and shut the **** up about it.
