DONT UPDATE Package Disabler Pro if you want to AVOID the OTA

Strange thing: I was messing about with my phone a couple of hours ago and without me doing anything, PDP downloaded an update for itself and tried to install it. The install failed because it was blocked for some reason. It kind of spooked me and I didn't read the message fully.

Anyway, I looked in my downloads folder and there was another .apk file sitting there, dated today.

Has this happened to anyone else? It looks very much like they tried to push the update, but maybe I just hit the wrong buttons with my fat fingers and caused this myself. I have no idea how though - I wasn't running PDP at the time, so I don't know how I could have invoked this.
That sounds weird. However, I don't allow PDP any internet access. One possibilty is, do deactivate wifi and mobile data before opening PDP to change sth. and to activate again after closing PDP. So it can't "phone home" to look if there is an update.

As a second line of defense I use an additional firewall:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.greyshirts.firewall.beta

Not only for PDP, but just for this and other apps and packages to completely deny any internet access. A lot of them seem to be very curious and commuicative and so it seems best to stop it.

I rooted my n7 yesterday because I couldn't get package disabler to work.
Used titanium backup to block them instead.
I still have network access now when I was told that I wouldn't have network access today, not sure if they've tried already, or it is actually working.

Running hydrarom, feels pretty stock at the moment, but I like it.

Just try one of those:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0c6Za ... RSODQ/view

or

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... forsamsung

Here is what i have blocked:

com.policydm
com.sec.android.soagent
com.wssyncmldm
com.sec.spp.push
com.sec.android.app.samsungapps
com.samsung.knox.appsupdateagent
com.samsung.firmware.sensorhub
com.samsung.android.firmware.tsp

Especially the last 2 are most important if they exist on your device.

Depending on your model / provider not all of the packages are installed.
Plus, it can be that there are some more for you, e.g. provider specific apk's.
Look for att, sprint, t-mobile etc.

The firewall is an additinal thing, for this you have to take care what you allow or deny. So it's necessary what you have some experience with using firewalls. And as it is a firewall without root, your first step must be blocking the relevant packages itself.

If i have a verizon note 7 but am using a tmobile sim card can tmobile blacklist my phone?
Of course they can if they want to. You can assume that blacklists are exchanged, at least within your country, so it really doesn't matter what sim card you have.

Blacklisting has nothing to do with update packages but with IMEI and/or phone model id.

And to fix this is another kind of thing, what cannot discussed here, cause of the forum rules. Just use google... ^^

I purchased the package disabler pro app and then uninstalled and tried using the 6.3 app and it says i dont have a valid license
The developer changed the activating procedure, so if you purchased version 7 you cannot activate 6.3 anymore. Some other people reported that they were blackmailed by sammy to cripple their own app otherwise sammy would enforce google to kick them off from play store...

Similar for EZ package disabler. So try with the tools given in the links

Or with the ADB method and debloater: (start reading with post #204)

You're a God:D thank you. It sucks I had to waste 1.49 on package disabled pro when this handy app was there for free and still has access to disable firmware.tsp. I appreciate it my man, you just saved my Note7. Even though I'm not sure if Verizon is issuing an update for it. I still have security policy from August 1st lol.

Funny how it shows the firmware.tsp on my S7 but i get on my Note7 and it's not there to be disabled... or any app.. I was so excited for a second.

Well, i wrote it's suspicious...
Do you have any further information what kind of malware comes with it (data spy, botnet...)?

In Germany you won't find the app in play store at all. But: The same app with another name you can get in German playstore. Here it is called: Ultimate Tools for Samsung. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ultimate.tool.forsamsung

The screenshots in the app are just the same as for S Package Disabler, also the description of the functionality and the email address of the developer: [email protected]. But the devoloper here calls himself ICTSoft. Maybe a fake identity. Google playstore seems to accept this until now. But it disables the packages you want...

And also no unexpected activity until now. Will give an update if i find out more.
Did S Packager Disabler still work for you ... does it just do
"Disable up to five (5) packages" like Ultimate tool does?
Thanks

There were reports that the Ultimate Tool was updated too and no longer will work as needed.

But S Package disabler still works, does not update itself in any way, and didn't bring unwanted effects so far.
So if one hasn't a working PDP 6.3, it should be a good alternative.
