DONT UPDATE Package Disabler Pro if you want to AVOID the OTA

'Hiding' is not 'Disabling' or even 'uninstalling'.
If you 'hid' the packages, don't be surprised they're...well... hidden. You have to make sure they're 'Disabled' not 'Hidden'.

Update:
I just tested if Debloater "hide" function really works to disable those packages.
I used ps | grep from adb shell to see if any processes corresponding to the packages were running.
It appears that whenever you "hide" a package in Debloater, the corresponding processes are prevented from running.

No. It seems like hide prevents the packages from physically running as background processes.
In fact, if you go to Settings/Applications and click on the "hidden" app, and then click Permissions, a message flashes "app not found." And if you click on Settings/General management/Software update nothing happens.

That's what I thought too but apparently the apparition or 'hide' (in Kitkat if I remember well) is not that simple. It's not just a 'disable and hide' and I haven't been able to find any really specific documentation on the pm hide function.

Well... according to this

"hide" prevents the packages from ever loading into physical memory. They are still there, but they cannot be executed by the system.
This is consistent with my testing.

Hi

I'm not good at tech stuff... I tried to download the 6.3 from the public drive that one guy had put up on this thread...but after downloading it to my phone,
I couldn't get the apk to work (even after ticking the box for downloading apps from unknown 3rd parties). Then I read that some links might contain viruses.
Can someone pls point me in the right direction or send me the apk and also tell me how to get the apk working after download? THANKS!

Did you have a later version previously installed? There are instructions on Page 4 of this thread.
I had 6.3 and was able to get to the packages required before the update.
I was a bit late in downloading for my wife's Note so used the link here (thanks for that mate btw) and seemed to work. Don't know if this will be successful in blocking the Code of Death but we'll see.
Ta to ooMoo for the heads up as well.

You are likely talking about my link. It does NOT contain a virus. It is a direct link to the APK file. And for anybody else reading this, I'm not sure why some people are still asking where to find it. I posted it in 2 of the threads in this forum, this thread included.

My "thanks" meter is going up because people are using my link and successfully installing it. So don't be afraid that there is a virus.

Ensure you have removed version 6.4 or any other later version you may have installed. Otherwise 6.3 won't install.

He's not talking about yours. Yours is fine. Another dude posted a link to some shady sharing website filled with viruses, popups, invitations to clean your computer from viruses, the works.

hi

No I had not. But I have now and also installed the 6.3 , thanks to OoMoo!

I have tried to manually disable the 2 software update packages and UrgentFWUpdateTSP, but when I go back to the menu of package disabler pro, they still show up. So,
have I really successfully disabled them?

Also, I could not find the UrgentFWUpdateSensorHub on my 6.3...

Any advice from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks.

I did download your 6.3 , however it didnt work as I had never had a paid version on my phone before and therefore no license.. :)

I was concerned about the other version that another forum member had said had viruses.

I can confirm that Package Disabler is working on my phones. At least I believe it is, since I have not gotten the update.

I didn't have the "Sensor" package either.

What I did is searched for "Update," and then disabled all that were found except the HandwritingDB one (that I can confirm will bork your handwriting-to-typed-text feature...had to re-enable that one).
