Hey guys,
I am new to the Android TV scene so bear with me.

Recently bought TCL C6 TV. It updated yesterday to Android Oreo but the Color accuracy especially in HDR has fallen considerably, constant dimming of backlight for no reason and not to mention low volume for some reason (I have to keep it around 80-90 to be audible, the lows are very lows).

So I am looking for a downgrade file fit for my TV. It's current version is V8-T658T01-LF1V534

I am a tech savvy person so if there are any technical suggestions, I'd be happy to listen to them as well since I know my way around Android and accessing my TVs Factory (Service) Menu

If there's a better suggestion than downgrading or maybe upgrading to the latest version (Android 9), that will be super!

Cheers

P.S: I scoured the Forum but couldn't find what I was looking for so posting this. Apologies if it's a repetitive post, in which case, you can point me to the relevant post

Ok, on further investigation, I have found out that Dolby Digital 5.1 is not working which might be the issue with the low volume on audio, at least

Checked it with The Last of Us 2. Previously, it had 5.1 in the game's Options available. Not anymore. It only says Television (2 Channel) now

Hi,

I am having the same issues as you mentioned on my TCL L55C6US. When viewing HDR content on Netflix or from My PS4 Pro the back light constantly brightens and dims in a very noticeable way which wasn't the case previously. I found a link with multiple versions from the Australian TCL support website.

You mentioned you were on V534 and still facing this issue. I am currently on v549 and also facing similar problems. So it seems that they haven't actually fixed it. I don't mind downgrading to a lower version if it means having more consistent HDR performance. However I'm not sure which version among these will give me what I am looking for..

Do you know which was the last update that works well? If not then I probably will have to downgrade to the lowest version (v364).

Hey!
So apparently I needed ZIP update files to upgrade, of which I used v551 downloaded from here (Use the v551 link shared by this poster)

Been using it for couple of days now and the backlight issue has somewhat subsided. Maybe you can try it as well and share your experience here. Don't forget to Shop Reset the TV (from the Factory/Service Menu) once the update is installed.

I have not tried downgrading as Android is a bit messy with downgrading and I don't want to experiment with a newly bought TV, bootloops, bricking and all :p

Thanks a lot. This update seems to fix the most annoying issue regarding the HDR. No more sudden brightening and dimming of the backlight.

TCL needs to make the firmware for all Android models more easily accessible and uniform across all regions. It seemed to me that the Australian firmware wasn't the best fit for my C6 even tho they sell the same model in Australia and Europe (with a different model number)

Regarding the sound I still do not see the option for Dolby in the menu like I used to when I first got the TV but it works alright and I don't really see any real or annoying issues with it.

Hi all I just updated r868 on my 85p8m in Australia.
I had to unzip to PKG file on root of USB drive formatted to fat32, power off tv with remote fully then power on with button on the tv itself and hold it down.

Update took about 10 mins.
Before and after firmware attached.

Quick notes.
Initial setup process worked much better when setting up from phone. Even got a suggested apps screen I had never seen before.
Google Play store updated quickly but apps take a long time to update all, this has happened with all firmwares I have tried.

Amazon Prime app not available as always so I'll update from apk instead using Aptoide.
