if you're on jelly bean, can you downgrade to ICS by putting the official firmware .zip file on your /sdcard

1. last time when i deleted some system files (firmware ICS .30), i downloaded the official firmware .zip file and do a manual update, it "updated" to .30 and i got all my deleted system files back

2. someone in this thread just got his tablet from RMA and is being asked to downgrade from JB to ICS

those are the 2 reasons i think this "official" downgrade method will work. if it does work then we can downgrade without rooting or unlocking bootloader (and it's also easy)

if you want to try this, please do it at your own risk. i'm no developer and i will not be responsible if it bricks your device :D

It will fail as your source link says it did for them. I have already tried this as well as several other suggestions and the result is always the same as your source link describes.
Sorry I had hoped it was something new to try. The jb bootloader checks for proper signature and refuses to downgrade.
Thanks for reporting. One day soon I expect one of the ways presented will work. Joy, joy!

I have tried this months before. It acts like its successful, but when its done, you're still on jb, so it does not work. There is no known safe method at this time unless you backed up the hidden stuff with nvflash.
