do a search there is a tut.
and i am backing him up...for the last time you have to unlock the bootloader to revert back to 2.1
technically its not all caps.then just put a rooted froyo rom on to begin with (most are) and you don't need to type in all caps and in red!!!
I have the "ERD79-update-nexusone-stock-images.zip" file with same size with file you said (PASSIMG.zip) , is the same? or should i download the PASSIMG ? if they are same ,i should rename it to PASSIMG.zip? You can downgrade. Check here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688562
I followed the complete instructions and i'm not rooted and I was able to revert back to 2.1.
Here's from the thread.
(1) go to androidtechnical.info
(2) click on "ANDROID ROM LIBRARY"
(3) type "Google OEM" into the search boy (of course without the "")
(4) click on "Search"
(5) click onto the "Google OEM" link that says "Nexus One Shipping ROM (Original)" in the "Version" column
(6) at the bottom you will find the download link
(7) happy downloading
(1) Do a Factory Reset via Android OS
(2) Reboot into Fastboot, go into Bootloader and click "Cleare Storage"
(3) Reboot your phone, plug it into USB and make Windows access it via USB
(4) delete all files on the SD-Card, format it, and then copy the PASSIMG.zip onto your SD-Card
(5) Shut down your phone and boot it into fastboot again and go into bootloader again. Now the phone will regonize and load your PASSIMG.zip and ask you if you want to update.
Everything that follows this instructions should be self-explaining (press yes to update etc.).
You what is funny, I quoted it, and put it in all caps, but when you press submit, it keeps converting it to lower case...haha...technically its not all caps.![]()
lol.....the forums have its ways of keeping the rules intact..You what is funny, I quoted it, and put it in all caps, but when you press submit, it keeps converting it to lower case...haha...
Just can't win...
Guys I'm having similar problems with others, it keeps saying 2.1 is an older version and it won't work. I'm stuck as it's been crashing on me all day.You can downgrade. Check here :

Guys I'm having similar problems with others, it keeps saying 2.1 is an older version and it won't work. I'm stuck as it's been crashing on me all day.
Also, there are lots of .img files in the folder, do I keep them all in there, or remove some?
I'll try again mate
But I had a question for those who it worked for:
yes you can go into the boot menu. ALL N1s can(YOU SURE U HAVE ONE?Hope that didn't sound rude!
Anyway hopefully those in the know with Android might be able to advise me on step 1/2
When the phone is factory reset it boots STRAIGHT away to the Nexus boot screen, I can't stop it even if I hope the PWR + Trackball buttons. Then the little Android and an arrow coming out of a box process happens, then I can go into the boot menu.
Is there another way of doing a factory reset and then I can boot straight away into the boot menu?
Also, can you put USB files on the phone anyother way except via USB file transfer? As that only happens when Android has booted (Step 3)
It seems this is where 2.2 is getting reloaded
Thanks
THanks I'll try againyes you can go into the boot menu. ALL N1s can(YOU SURE U HAVE ONE?) Try Power Button + Power UP while the phone is off(after the factory reset, just shut down). As they have said, make sure there is ONEPASSIMG.zip ( renamed to PASSIMG.zip ) that you copy to your EMPTY sd card.
If there are multiple files, YOU either downloaded the wrong file or you are trying to "open" the zip file. Follow the instruction properly. You do NOT unzip the zip file, you copy it after renaming.
Gluck
Then once it's booted, just shut down again. Then "clear storage" from the boot loader.THanks I'll try again
Just incase I wasn't too clear, the phone does boot into the bootloader when it's off then turned on, but it's only when I do a factory restore that it automatically boots back into Nexus
I'll try again![]()
