Download the official a500 OTA ICS upgrade

Hi there! It's been a while since this update came out, but I guess the file is still accessible. Is it legit?

I have the screen flicker problem with my 4.0.3 GEN1 games, chrome, gmail, nova, etc would suddenly just "mess up", like start flickering and looking like display lines are out of sync and I can't do anything about it but kill task.

I thought I would flash to this rom instead and that might solve my problem.

I got my 4.0.3 in Asia but I bought my A500 in Canada.

Any thoughts about using this update.zip in my situation?

Flashing this rom using stock recovery made my A500 bricked.

are there any official ICS ota updates for A500 flashable using stock recovery available for Gen1 (not CUS1)?
I am now on 3.2 not 3.2.1
Also are there any updates for making 3.2 --> 3.2.1 ?

Worked perfect! My wife was on the version without the EC updates. She was experiencing Wi-Fi connection issues everywhere except at home. Probably because at home she has a static IP. The tablet was useless away from the house. It kept dropping connection every 5-6 seconds. I had no problem with my A500, but am rooted and running Omni Rom. (I love it!) My wife is more conservative and only wants stock.

This is stable and works without issue.

BTW...my daughter has an A500 as well. She is running Reflex V7.xxxx. Another nice stable ROM.

This is a great tablet that still works very well despite age.

Next tablet will probably be the Galaxy Tab since I have an AC router, I would like to take advantage of it.

I am in the US eastcost. This is my info from the Tablet I captured the image from.

Before: 3.2.1 Acer_A500_7.014.02_COM_GEN2
After: 4.0.3 Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1

Yes I just got it on my second hand tablet Iconia A500. As soon I figured out that the Download file was a double ZIP one, the update.zip was inside the posted: OS_Acer_7.014.02.041.205.01.PA.CUS1_A32H_A zip file, and unzipped the file to my external SD card in the tablet. The update just took less than 5 minutes. yeah the tablet was hooked to a laptop where I DL the OS_Acer_7.014.02.041.205.01.PA.CUS1_A32H_A named file. by the way, Acer said only compatible with GEN2. GEN1 has its own , really happy coz I got lot of working apps that needed 4.01 ICS :laugh:

Hi everyone,
I bought my Iconia A500 while working in the US. Now I want to upgrade it, but cannot find the suitable OS.
Do any of you perhaps still have the Acer_A500_7.014.02_041.205.01_COM_GEN2 OS which you can send my way?

I currently have
Model: A500
android version: 3.2.1
kernel version: 2.6.36.3+
build number Acer_A500_7.014.02_COM_GEN2

I think the method explained above will work - if I can just get that OS.

--------------steps to upgrade STEP 1:-------------
NB! KEEP YOUR POWER PLUGGED IN
download OS_Acer_7.014.02.041.205.01.PA.CUS1_A32H_A.zip
extract this zip file to a temp location
now format the sd card as fat32
and copy the extracted update.zip file to the newly formatted sd card
shutdown the tablet
now press down the volumen down button (keep it in)
and press down the power button (keep it in) until the tablet vibrates, then you can stop pressing the power button and volume button
the update should automatically launch itself now


after this upgrade my tablet is:

4.0.3
kernel version:
2.6.39.4+
image version:
Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1
build number
Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1

Just upgraded fabric default rom to ICS. I flashed 3.2 first before flashing ICS rom.
