Droid Razr Maxx HD (XT926) - Jelly Bean OTA - 9.1.41.XT926 + Root

Has the file been removed because I am unable to download the first file in the original post.

I get error 404 when I try to open it with the link in the first post and by going to the XML and clicking the file itself.

i apologize if the answer is in here already but i could not find an exact answer.

if i am on official OTA Jelly Bean is it possible to still use the files to get back to ICS safely? in the beginning i read the big red warning that you can not go back from official but it seems that it has been tried and works?

I just went back to ICS stock rooted, updated to the .72 or whatever update and restored root from the OTA Jelly Bean because I lost root and I didn't really care for Jelly Bean, quite a few apps won't work and wifi keeps dropping for me.

The thing I was forgetting was to temp unroot before OTA update.....

So to answer your question it worked for me!

I am thinking of going back to ICS too. I miss the Mass Storage option for USB. The Sony Walkman port doesn't have all the features in JB. I hate the white background of the contacts which doesn't flow with the stock dialer and messaging app. I noticed that once on JB I cannot revert back to ICS with a backup I had in safestrap so I will have to flash with the utility. I will wait for the next incremental update for bug fixes before jumping to JB.

MTP mode does the same as mass storage. Its annoying but it works. Also make sure USB Debugging is enabled.

well i am very familiar with the process and i did the OTA and for whatever reason now fastboot fails on both RSD 6.1 and RAZR HD Utility?

tried them both several times and fastboot fails on both of them.

thought anyone?

I finally got it to work. Once everything was done and I booted 4.1, I kept getting an error message that said "unfortunately, motorola services has stopped"

I fixed it by going into privacy and doing a hard reset.

Now to enjoy my new phone on JB!

Its also a hell of a lot slower too. I didn't need debugging enabled to get this to work btw

Do a Google search for "delta-ota-Blur_Version.0.7.2-9.1.41.XT926.Verizon.en.US.zip". It can be found in multiple places. You really don't need it now that the OTA is actually out. When you get to the point where you need that file, go to settings-about phone-system updates and it will download the OTA for you. That's what I did.

Solution to problems with downloading update/flashing update from web

Did you find a solution, it looks like we need to get a copy of the the chromesystembrowser.apk from someone. Did you fin it? I am having the same problem.

I FOUND A SOLUTION…

Here's what I was getting when I tried to flash the update in recovery while following the instructions in the OP…

And back to the recovery menu

This was before the OTA was available to me. I followed the instructions in the OP and had no clue why this wasn't working. Then I saw this guy's post:

If you are using Safestrap prior to the 9.1.41 OTA update, be sure you go into the Safestrap app, and click "Uninstall Recovery."

I had issues trying to install the OTA update - it would start the update and about a third of the way in it would stop and then I would get a "system update failed" message on the next boot up. I had done everything else recommended on this thread and other forums (e.g. used Voodoo to backup and temporarily unroot, unfroze the bloatware, reverted changed system files back to original condition, etc.) but it would still fail on me. After I uninstalled Safestrap's recovery, the OTA update worked and am now running Jelly Bean with root!

Hope this helps anyone with the issue I faced.

THE ISSUE IS SAFESTRAP. I tried uninstalling the recovery from the Safestrap app but that didn't help either. When the OTA became available for me to download, I kept getting a error when trying to download saying I didn't have enough disk space. That didn't make sense at all b/c I had like 26 GB free.

So I went back to the DROID RAZR UTILITY, performed the fast boot recovery and went back to the original stock conditions of the phone.

Then I downloaded and installed the 0.7.2 update (ICS) from Settings>About Phone>System Updates.

Then I rooted with the DROID RAZR UTILITY, went into SuperUser and made sure everything was up to date. (Idk why the OP says to update SU in the Play Store and to update the binaries in SU. For me it was all up to date already).

Then I installed Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper with the DROID RAZR UTILITY.

Then I downloaded the OTA (9.1.41) by going to Settings>About Phone>System Updates BUT I DID NOT INSTALL IT. YOU CAN NOT INSTALL THE UPDATE IF YOU ARE ROOTED.

Then I protected root and temporarily unrooted with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper.

Then I went back to Settings>About Phone>System Updates and installed the update I had just downloaded.

Then I went back to Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper and restored root.

BOOM…I'm rooted on Jelly Bean with the OTA.

This all worked because I did not install Safestrap at all.

By now most people should have the OTA available so if you're having problems downloading or installing it try this and I hope it works for you.

It's basically following the steps in the OP but DO NOT INSTALL SAFESTRAP. You can install it after you update and restore root.

Is this file in the OP the same as the official OTA? New RAZRs don't come with JB yet so the process should be fairly straight forward, right?

Yes it can. I reinstalled the recovery and everything is working fine on Jelly Bean.

It sounds like you may have had a different issue than the one I faced. For me, I was able to fully download the OTA update with Safestrap and the recovery installed, but it was just the installation of the OTA update that would fail for me. Once I uninstalled the recovery within the Safestrap app (I did NOT uninstall Safestrap itself), then I was able to install the OTA update without issues.

On a side note, I rooted my phone before the Utility was available and installed Safestrap on my own. When the 9.1.41 OTA update came out, I waited until it was available to me rather than downloading onto my SD card from the OP. That's when I faced the issues with Safestrap, but once I uninstalled the Safestrap recovery (and did everything else like temp unroot, etc.), then I was able to successfully install the OTA update and reinstall the Safestrap recovery AFTER the installing OTA update and restoring root.

Hopefully between our two issues, other won't have to have the headaches we faced!

Having issues with this process on my Maxx HD. First time through I was still on ICS, and went through the steps listed to protect root and took the OTA JB update. Everything updated fine, and was able to root again through OTA Keeper, however after I rooted I had no cell service. No 4G/3G, no calls, nothing. I could still use wifi, but no mobile data.

At that point I performed a factory reset (basically following ALL the steps again), and once again used the OTA Jelly Bean update. Again it installed fine, and I was able to root the phone again. But once rooted I still don't have any mobile service for the most part. Interestingly enough before I went to bed last night I had rebooted the phone a couple times, and I had full service for several hours (while rooted). When I woke up...gone. In fact, a phone call was what woke me up (I didn't answer), and when I checked the phone it no longer had service. I've checked this with another phone calling into mine as well (doesn't work).

As of now, if I use OTA Keeper to unroot, then reboot, it'll behave normally, and I have full mobile service. If I proceed to reroot it, I'll lose it soon after. This is only happening with Jelly Bean, no issues with ICS.

Any thoughts on this?

May not be the right place but what would happen if I fast boot and just install the official update. I don't care about root I am on the earlier leaked jelly bean.

Personally, I just did the OTA Root Keeper and did the OTA update to JB. It seemed to have worked any my version is 9.1.41...

For some reason after fastbooting back to ICS, my phone is taking an incredibly long time to boot.

Is this normal? I'm on step 5.
