E:Error executing updater binary in zip

i'm trying to download pac-rom 4.4.2 and when ever i try to flash the rom i get E:Error executing updater binary in zip. I've wiped everything and tried again but i keep getting the same errors. Anyone know how to fix this?

Did you verify the MD5 checksum before flashing ? What Recovery are you using ?

After fiddling around and browsing the internet for awhile i found a solution:
use your current recovery to download and install philz recovery
