I am sorry, but it is not clear to me. Did Nick confirm that 4.1.1 release 2 is rootable or not rootable? Please let us know when you can, if it can be rooted I am going to update, but I am not willing to lose root only to gain an accurate clock...

Thanks

IT WORKS REALLY!!!! Simple & Easy with the Xperia Tablet S and Jelly Bean 4.1.1

I have tested with my Tablet SGPT122DE/S and i have really Root!

This, I note that this tool is not from me! The tool was written by @djrbliss.

If you want to thank someone then do that after your feeling - at least I thank everyone here on Meaningful information and applications ...
Thanks @xda-Community!

(Download the Motochopper and run the run.bat)[/QUOTE]

For those trying to do this from an Ubuntu 13.04 system, thought I would share my findings.

After getting the Android SDK installed, and attempting the "adb devices" command, I was still getting the "?????? permissions missing" message.

in order to fix this, I had to add a line in the /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules so that the Sony Tablet S USB device would have proper permissions.

Here is the entry to make for this tablet:

SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="054c", MODE="0666"

After this, reboot, and you should be able to see your device listed after issuing the "adb devices"

Then execute the motochopper/run.sh script for a successful root.

You would probably have better luck finding an answer if you posted your question in a Toshiba forum. This forum is for the Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P, and Xperia Tablet S.

I think I bricked my tablet doing this, I did this, but I installed the drivers from Cat McGowan's post, are the two even compatible?
What do I do, the tablet won't start, I have tried holding the up volume button and the power button but it only shows me the SONY screen.

Is there anyway I can unbrick it? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

been here 3hrs it wont work :-/

Great scott, it worked! So elegant root and wayyyyy sooner than I expected!

To the fokls having problems; I found out, that adb.exe in motochopper.zip did not want to play together with my Xperia. So I deleted it, killed adb.exe and copied latest adb.exe from android sdk to motochopper directory. Blam, no problems and I have root.

You may also manualy debug (and even root) by starting cmd.exe and calling commands manually, ie.

C:\>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
XXXXX device

If this don't show you device, you have no changes to root. If your device shows up, there should be no problems. If you devices is not showing, kill all adb.exe processes and use adb.exe from latest android sdk. Then you can even root manually and see waht step does what:

adb push pwn /data/local/tmp/pwn
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/pwn
adb push su /data/local/tmp/su
adb push busybox /data/local/tmp/busybox
adb install Superuser.apk
adb shell /data/local/tmp/pwn
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/pwn
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/su
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/busybox

And then manually reboot. Run each command manually one per one, do not copy paste every command as batch. This will teach you a lot :) But .bat should work.

Kudos to authors of motochopper!
after inputting the first commad:
adb push pwn /data/local/tmp/pwn

the respose is:
cannot stat 'pwn': No such file or directory

what do i do??

and when i tried using the motochopper: the whole tree was completed n the tablet restarted but it did not root

If someone tries to install this - place the motochopper folder on your desktop, otherwise it wont work and give you an error.

At least thats what happened to me until i placed the folder on the desktop :)
