Not going to is it especially on a locked Bootloader thought it stopped working at KK to be honest. There is currently nothing for this device
I don't know what 'latest' is but if it is the stock Rom put out by Sony then yes you'll lose root. After rooting, you need to install a recovery, then in recovery install a pre-rooted version of your Rom that also has recovery.Flashed another firmware (4.4.4 version) still doesnt work. It also displays adb server out of date. killing.
EDIT: ok I got the root working on the old version. I flashed back to latest version using flash tool but my root was taken away??
Thanks for the reply, although I have already solved the problemI don't know what 'latest' is but if it is the stock Rom put out by Sony then yes you'll lose root. After rooting, you need to install a recovery, then in recovery install a pre-rooted version of your Rom that also has recovery.

I'm curious about this tooThanks for the reply, although I have already solved the problem
I made my own pre rooted FTF and carried on from there
also a question, would the root in a pre rooted FTF work if you did not root your previous installation?
No! The pre-rooted ROM comes in the zip format, for what you need a custom recovery (e.g. TWRP) to flash it. Unfortunately, you need root to install it!I'm curious about this too
btw will you be able to access the custom recovery (TWRP) when your phone is not rooted?
Lol yeah you are right. I just realized that it produced a zip, not the FTF file. No! The pre-rooted ROM comes in the zip format, for what you need a custom recovery (e.g. TWRP) to flash it. Unfortunately, you need root to install it!
That's why you need to return to either Lollipop or Kitkat, then get root access and install recovery, because there is no custom recovery solution, which runs from your PC, available for Marshmallow right now!
Poor you... You still don't believe you can't root without unlocking your bootloader...Anyone tried on Xperia Z5,
I want root my Z5 without unlocked bootloader
Okey, how can i backup my drm key?Poor you... You still don't believe you can't root without unlocking your bootloader...
There's a thread in one of the Z5P forums titled Root. In it there is mentioned 'iovyroot'. You need to go back down to LL, use iovyroot to backup the DRM keys.
I think I rooted my Z1 without unlocking the bootloaderPoor you... You still don't believe you can't root without unlocking your bootloader...

So did I with my Z2 & tablet Z. The Z5 series on the other hand can't be rooted without unlocking the bootloader. Hence my Z5P is not rooted as I haven't unlocked the bootloader yet.

.
- Make sure device is connected
- Make sure USB-debugging is enabled
- Make sure no Sony PC Companion or other Sony software is running
- Make sure you have adb drivers installed (Example)
- Make sure the computer is permanently authorized for connection on the phone (you get a dialog the first time you connect)
.
- Flash factory firmware in flashtool. Exclude everything except system. No need to wipe anything.
- Yes. You 'might' have to reinstall SuperSU though (depending on the installation method).
Did you use the SuperSU from market? Because it's a known issue this SuperSU can not update binary. Use latest one from here: http://download.chainfire.eu/447/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip
