UPDATE 09.09.2011

Please use this way to Recovery Mode: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17395735&postcount=19 thanks to RiverSource

The old way
Do not use it.
For easy reboot into Recovery Mode.
I've made Easy Reboot Recovery.zip. It contains adb.exe, 2 dl from Adroid SDK, and RebootRecovery.bat.

To reboot into Recovery Mode make sure that drivers for phone are installed.

Enable USB Debugging (Phone Setting > Applications >Development > USB Debugging should be checked)

Connect your phone to PC with USB cable and run RebootRecovery.bat
The phone will reboot into Recovery mode.
When you see white box with an arrow and droid, Press Menu button to open Recovery menu.

I'd try out by myself but i dont own the i9001.
My girlfriend does and she is quite anxious about rooting a phone and those hidden menus blablah...;)
So if i root her phone and anything is not workin as ill explain, im doomed ;)

Root from recovery menu

I just tried this method with the I9001XXKP4 ROM and it worked fine.
SuperUser was installed, and I'm now restoring my apps+settings with Titanium.

It was actually an easy root method, just don't forget to plug in your USB cable before you press [VolUp + Home + Power]

Kudos + thanks for KeksKlip !

Hi.

I tried this > copied the root file to my micro-sd card, then turn off the phone and power up again with volup+home+pwr and my phone goes into RAM DUMP MODE because of a forced upload?

After removing the battery phone restarts as normal. What to do to root?

Phone is connected.
I get an error:

* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found

OS: Win7 Home 64-bit

Any help?

You need phone drivers for USB
You should install Samsung Kies
or just Drivers google for "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe"

Sorry, it's not aloud me to post links

Yes. I've forgot about phone settings.

Please, open Phone Setting > Applications >Development
and check USB Debugging

Thats it.

Connect your phone to PC and run RebootRecovery.bat

Kies and drivers already installed. I've updated my system to 2.3.4 2 hours ago so drivers are all right. Reinstalled the drivers for sure and i have the same error again.

I can enter the Recover Mode this way:

- Switch phone off
- Press Vol+ and Power Button
- as soon as the "SAMSUNG" appears release both buttons
- as soon as the "Android out of the Box" appears, press the Menu button.

Remark: Don't press the Home Button during power on! Otherwise you will enter the RAM Dump mode.

This doesnt work for me. I will try djsadhu's method when I get home.

I have created a Rooting package for the i9001 this one is different cause it includes
Supersu and it's su binary, and for some reason the superuser websites are down so you can't update the su binaries.
I feel supersu manages root apps better than superuser :)
and also the UI looks good.

    Edit:I have updated the package
Added the latest busybox so you won't have any problems with root Applications
Type "cp" or any unix command to check the busybox version in terminal emulator :)

Edit:Made a little Unrooting Package, incase you want to revert back to stock.

Edit:The Superuser Websites are back online so you can update the su binary if you'r using superuser.
    5
I Updated the rooting package with the latest busybox v1.20.0 and Supersu binary

For guys who don't know the difference between Supersu and Superuser
Supersu app was written by Elite Recognized Developer CHAINFIRE, it includes many new features, you can see the changelog below.

    Supersu Features include:

    - Superuser access prompt
    - Superuser access logging
    - Superuser access notifications
    - Per-app notification configuration
    - Temporary unroot
    - Deep process detection (no more unknowns)
    - Works in recovery (no more segfaulting)
    - Works when Android isn't properly booted
    - Works with non-standard shell locations
    - Trusts ADB connection
    - Always runs in ghost mode
    - Wake on prompt

please press thanks button if this was helpful

Can I unroot my phone if i've custom rom on my phone?

Temporary unroot -> open SuperUser app , goto info tab , select temp unroot.

Constant unroot -> remove /system/xbin/su and /system/app/su... ; ignore cwm warnings about su.

How ever , I suggest to just unroot your rom temporary !
