Another question before I flash this: Do I have to do anything on my phone to prep it for the upgrade? I am root, running exposed with Wanam module. Will this effect anything applying this update? Also will flashing this update through Odin wipe my /data/ partition?

Question

Hey all, quick question.

I installed a few days ago, but some apps are acting up (all internal). If I want to do a clean install, can I wipe everything (factory reset) and then install via Odin? Since the md5 files won't be on my phone, I should be ok with wiping, right?

No, you just follow this simple guide as it says....It's irrelevant what you are running when you ODIN the official update.

1. Step 1, make sure you have all the Samsung Drivers loaded
2. Reboot phone in download mode like it says
3. When you open ODIN, make sure it recognizes your device
4. FOLLOW THE GUIDE ITS PERFECT

Did you ever flash the SD card Read/Write Fix? I have had zero issues....And could you explain further what you mean some apps are acting up?

Make sure you run Odin as administrator. That is only thing I think I missed that caused me problems of not booting.

When I first installed, my root apps would request root, but the popup that allows you to grant root access wasn't coming up. Also, my Amazon MP3 app started draining my battery drastically, which never happened before. Nothing major, but still, i'd like to do a clean install anyway. Plus, I need to clean off my internal storage anyway since i'm running out of space.

I don't have access to a computer until tonight when I get home, is it possible to flash the stick IMG via mobile Odin? I know I will have to finish the rooting process on a computer tho.

Hey folks, I have my STOCK rom and STOCK Bootloader on my note 3. i rooted it with Kingo and now that i see there's an official update I want it. So, I UNROOTED with Kingo and everything seems good (system reads offical). i Uninstalled all root apps after as well. Does anyone recommend not updating the right way to gain kitkat access? Will i be able to root if i use this method? i really want to flash X-Note kitkat build after the update.

Thanks for the guide, made reference easy. Everything it 100% just like a brand new phone out of the box. I have customized to my liking and am enjoying kk. So far my experience is better battery, and much better signal. Thanks again for taking the time to put everything necessary in one place. Only thing I would add to the guide is to do a full system wipe and factory reset before doing any of these steps.

OK !

First off.

THIS GUIDE IS FOR INSTALLING AND ROOTING THE UVUCNB4 T-MOBILE ROM AND THAT ROM ONLY. FOR THE PEOPLE WANTING TO INSTALL AND RUN INT. ROM. GO TO THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM.

If you refuse to follow the steps here, your questions will be ignored.
If you fail to read the T-MOBILE FORUM (yes there's a Q&A Thread for all this) your question will be ignored.
If you try to run third party apps like Xposed bla bla bla, and can't figure out why you can't achieve a,b and c, your questions will be ignored.
If you are going to sit here and lie and say, hey i did this exactly and it's not working, your questions will be ignored.

This is getting ridiculous people. I took my family out for a nice day and came back to at least 3 pages per thread. And guess what. All 5 threads, have the exact same questions, some of them by the same person posting in seperate places. AND ALL OF THE QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED MULTIPLE TIMES.

2nd.

Please do not give people smart alec answers and comments because you feel like they should know it. Some of the questions are legit and people actually do need help. Belittling people on XDA will get you banned. I will report you to the Mod's myself. My job as an RC. Please be considerate in how you approach others. You do not know them or their background. Some people may take offense to condescending comments and tone.

With all that said. Please , Please, Please read and search. This entire section is starting to get riddled with duplicate information. If you have a problem or want to flash a particular rom, please go to that section to post your questions.

Thank you .

Works great! My only problem is that ESFile shows 2 extSdcard , one located at /mnt/media_rw/extSdCard/ and the other at /storage/extSdCard/

Flash that it clears your modem partition which the phone will rebuild on boot."

You're not the only one that has had this happen.

Did you dirty flash over another rom? Did you check the platform.xml to ensure you made proper changes to the file?

I was on the stainless rom for a while till the 4.4.2 recently out.
Editing the language.xml doesn't work on note 3..

There are a few ways it can be done. If it's not preloaded in the rom, it has to be added.

Not sure if it's all the same on 4.4 but there is a folder under system/sipdb/
The language zips are there on 4.3. You might be able to steal it out of that rom you were running an paste it there

Yes I did dirty flash over the stock JB ROM. Yes I just checked the platform.xml file identical to the one in the zip

It doesn't seem to make any difference so I'm not worried about it as of right now.
