Just wanted to ensure others realized this currently doesn't work with 4.4.2...
This works just fine if you pay attention and use the right thing. ... use flashify and twrp .img file ... You may also need busy box installed but I had it already. ... updated to newest twrp perfectly using flashify. ..
On 4.4.2

I tried this on 4.4.2 and soft bricked my phone. Every thing went perfect then when I tried booting into recovery via volume down, home, power button it just kept boot looping. The little blue recovery thing was at the top but just boot looped over and over. Tried all the ways to re boot and even pulling the battery and it wouldn't just start up normally. I was just trying to power on and it kept trying to boot into recovery mode and then bootlooping. So I tried doing the volume, home power combo to get into recovery and restore but wouldn't work. Then tried the volume, home, power to get into down load mode and that wouldn't work either. Nothing but boot loops. Finally the way I fixed it was taking the battery out. Then holding all three buttons for down load mode and while keeping them held down inserting the battery. And voila booted into download mode. From there I resarted the phone and now everything is good. Was getting pretty nervous there for awhile though.

Installing Custom Recovery.

Does this still work today with the newer Software Version NC5? and Android 4.4.2.

I noticed some talk about making sure it was MI5? I have the Sprint SM-N900P

Also, I'm new at this, I do have it rooted but is this flashing to save a copy of the original installed Software?

Does Titanium do the same thing? Just a little confused and need straightened out here.

Thanks,

I used flashify to flash this image and upon rebooting into recovery my phone went into a bootloop. Taking the battery out and Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button and then choosing cancel allowed me to boot back to normal. However, trying to enter into recovery with either TWRP Recovery Manager or Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button leads to a bootloop. Frustrating.

My phone (NC5) is rooted using the CF-auto root method. I just wanted to install TWRP Recovery and not sure of the error that this method has caused. Any ideas?

Downloaded hltespr-recovery-4.4.img from another thread and installed with Odin. Rebooted into recovery with TWRP Manager. Profit. Wished your method would have worked for me. No more bootloops.

Same thing is going on with me, flashed reboot and now im stuck in a boot loop. No matter what i do it stays in that loop, Taking the battery out and Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button nothing works it stays on that loop not letting me get into download mode at all.
It says recovery booting in blue then
recovery is not something enforcing in red
set warranty bit : recovery in yellow and back to the loop

WARNING!
Everyone must realize the risks to altering your 600 dollar device. You do this of your own choosing and can not hold the OP responsible.
That said this is just an alternative method to flash recovery and other things for that matter. Flashify works but you need to make sure you use the IMG file nothing else, it functions in the same way as using ADB commands on your computer. Again there are other apps which do the same.
If you are on a different device and come to this forum and say that your phone bricked then you are just either trolling or completely do not know what you are doing.
Please be mindful and sure of what you want and what you are doing before doing anything.

Have a great day!
