That's what I feared was the case :(
Thinking the s7 oreo may work for active, but definitely not the recovery sadly!!
Its unlikely we gonna get them leaked, took long enough for these standard ones !!

I would love to root just for the ability to have the dual speaker...can I unroot and still have dual speaker?

Root on S7 ATT 8.0 OREO V4 Bootloader

Worked on my s7 ATT, the RAM usage changed from fresh stock 1.9 GB Free Ram with NO apps installed vs ROOTED with NO apps installed is 1.2 GB Free Ram,

Wow, Oreo is so much faster than what I was on, Marshmallow ROOT from 2016. Way better battery life too. I get 25 min of SOT per 5% battery when I am on Mid battery saving mode. No L Speed or even Greenify needed, they are already sort of built in Oreo. Got a new battery for the S7 ATT and had to restore to fix charging issues for the new battery, so decided to upgrade to Oreo. The new battery was charging accordingly to the old S7 Battery stats, i don't know if it was the fg_asoc file that messed up the new battery charging, but this upgrade and possibly restore fixed the new battery charging issue. I finally don't hate the S7 battery life anymore.

THANKS A BUNCH.

I have got an unlocked phone to use it in my country but I can't use fingerprint or Samsung health, I checked root status and it says the phone isn't rooted, I don't want to install any ROM just want to use fingerprint and Samsung health, will rooting solve this issue? Changing values using build prop.

1) How can I know my bootloader version?
2) does this method delete my apps and data?
3) does this method generate problems with the performance of my s7?

1.its the 8 or is it 9th number, which ever a number in your baseband string
2.Yes you MUST when you first install it all...(its to do with the encryption (and tbh even if you didnt have to, MAKE A BACKUP like it was!)
3.yes, if you stay with the rooted option YES it will lag... (so unroot once youhave everything in place!)

how compatible do you think this would be with the s7active (native to AT&T carrier) ?
especially now the S7active has recently been updated to Oreo, which also updated its bootloader to v4 ...
worth a go ?
Unless you have an eng recovery for oreo for the active and an eng boot.img for oreo you won’t be able to do anything
ok, ive now been able to obtain all the files needed, that is the eng boot, and eng recovery... so got a couple of question to port it over ...
when you stated that this allows you to make any modifications you might want then easily unroot for better performance.
is that ONLY in the System folder ??
when you unroot, the DM-Verity fix is this now done via the twrp and the preperations from before ??...( and not by the missmatch of the modems (HILOS.bin file) like you were doing before this eng.recovery leak )
and one more thing, if i do port it ok to the S7a (nearly finished) is there other people to notify/get permission/name on release ??

Cheers Mick

Bootloader problem on Galaxy S7 G930A

Hello, I flashed the BL Oreo Stock to switch from a SM-G930A to SM-G930U model but my S7 no longer detects any operators. Would it be possible to have the same BL but for G930A? Thank you in advance

Tried doing this on my ATT S7-G930A that I set up with this guide a couple months ago (unrooted afterwards for performance) but after flashing the root AP file it just boots normally without root. Am I doing something wrong or should I try a different version of Odin instead of 3B?

Cheers

virus?

Is there a reason the S7_S7E_ROOT_UNROOT_ADB_TOOLS.7z file has a trojanGeneric inside of the setup.exe??

Thought I found a solution but instead I got a virus

There are no tar files that I can flash with Odin in SM_G930_FLAT_OREO.
There are things like recovery and boot images, but nothing that ends with .tar
I am new to rooting so I'm having some trouble.

Hello,

Could someone explain what is the point of rooting if you cant stay rooted and/or install another room (not that there are many to choose from)?

I mean i read here that you root your phone and "once everything is in place" you unroot. What does "once everything is in place" mean ? Put adaway install the hosts and then unroot ? Uninstall att apps ?

Is there any way I could install lineage on a att s7 cell phone? (ok, i know this last question does not belong here but I ve been reading for hours and I got nowhere.
