We, Indian smartphone users are again in a phase change.

About a year ago when Canvas 2 took market to a huge high fir Micromax. It was a Micromax wave.
On news papers, hordings and banners everywhere was canvas 2 and this wave was alive till Feb 2013 which took Micromax to a place we all know.
None of the smartphone got that much fame, but yet Micromax was the winner.
In a row of 5 persons in Delhi metro 3 were holding Micromax Canvas 2,mu personal experience.

But the king also changes, new dudes came. CHD, and other devices were also went popular.

Now since moto g has been launched in India its cutting users for Micromax especially.

in my personal experience, my 5 friends choosen Moto G over magnus. Even I could have been one of them if I didn't went to buy next smartphone in month of January.

Expecting at least kitkat from Micromax, But somewhere I have this in my heart I should have gone for moto g.

Creating this thread for others to share their views on this change in Indian smartphone market when the studies show that Moto E has manages to sell 1 laks units in just few hours..

Non open source environment, no quick updates and many more other things going against mmx.

Let's see.. whats next..

I Agree with You, If Micromax really wants to fight with Moto in this battle, OS updates (kitkat here) is a must...

There are people for whom OS update does not really make difference but this is india and people do match all things to choose any product..
And If You cannot update your OS which is already pure Android flavour, It gives a negative message in the market.

Micromax should work like a mature android vendor, Now the compeltion is not only with local companies.

Moto G and E are provides phones no accessories, they have the worst camera and is available only via flipkart yes it has open sources and so but most guys don't use custom ROMs and so! Even if ROM are build able from source many have successfully compiled CM with available sources!

Motorola is any day a far superior company then micro max can ever be. Google didn't pay upwards of 12 billion dollars for the company for nothing. I have heard so much skirt how horrible micro max is. Upper long prople wait for repairs.

They share their support with a Chinese company and we all know how they are.

Of your taking about camera well I an pretty sure you don't c just stick to stock applications for pictures if you do it is silly. I have the s3 with all the updates that Samsung pushed out to get the hardware to beer used the proper way I have found play store applications that have given me better results. So just because you have a 5 M pixel camera doesn't mean anything..

I am using a custom rom which is better at utilising my hardware then Samsung ever did.

Motorola may have never been popular in India because of nokia but I have used their phone and they were brilliant.

Maybe, Micromax is not that good as u said.
But moto left India just coz of their dying service center.. I myself readed the news of moto not having any customer supportin iIndia hence leaving India.

Custom rom, Ya that may be one point. But what you say, When I ask a team if engineers making a rom for your device and than putting it in your devicewill that uutilizes the hardware much better or a rom by single developer?

Okay, In your opinion 5 MPX, CAMERA can be better if we install some apps for it.
If I install XPERIA Z2 camera app is it possible that I will. be getting 20MPX image and with same clarity as that in Xperia?
M sure you answer it no, Above a stock camera no camera can give much clarity, but other cameras may give better ui.

One only thing in phones is need to replace music player only, else the device you get is always better.

Overclocked kernels, Custom rooms may give better looks or speed but at the cost of your battery life or something other.

It's for sure Micromax currently better than MOTO, you said Google bought MOTO coz its better?
So Microsoft bought Nokia, just coz these companies were in losses, they were sold and some bought them.

I am happy with the service of Micromax in Delhi, I got headphones replaces, once I replaced with less mobile phone with a new one.
2 times motherboard replacement, Battery replacement and every replacement sometimes in a day or a week.

1 have 4 mmx devices, none of them ever got any issue except the headphones.

coz I dropped my devices, and made some experiment that's why I needed to visit service centers. M happywith Micromax

It Qualcomm that's messing with the performance and camera of devices compared with Mediatek, Snapdragon 200 is very poor!

Yes they left because they were facing huge losses at that point time it would have been the right thing to do.

I haven't Understood at all what point your trying to make on the custom rom. I just don't get it.

Dude pixels are not the only thing that is used when it comes to taking pictures. If your using that example then I don't even want to go further. Hardware alone doesn't determine how great a picture looks. Simple example use your Instagram app versus stock. If your looking 20megs then go bypass micro max and moto and get a Sony.

Yes the whole point of having custom rom and Kernels is that ... speed better faster interface. It is a smart phone after all why should I not be able to use its full features. I have the choice to do it. The reason many of us are on Android and XDA is that very flexibity just like I can flash a custom rom and you don't have to if you don't want to.

I don't understand what point your trying to make about Microsoft and Nokia. Motorola like Erikson/ Alcatel lucent have a huge store of hardware and software patents that still are used or newier technology has evolved on the bases of them and hence they are important to own. If you look at WHAT Google sold it is the hardware manufacturing division, Motorola knowledge base is still in the hands of Google.

The very fact that you have had to replace parts shows how poor the manufacturing is by micro max. My friend waited 3 weeks to get his phone back he spent like 14 k on his micro max. Its great that your happy with it your product , but the fact is not everyone has had your smooth experience. Go search on forums and you can hear the horror stories.

I think its good.

Micromax phone during whole canvas era was good, excellent price for spec and feature. Then comes CHD which was just awesome at the time. I still remember CHD launch day and how it was sold out and how MMX kept the price and later increase it to handle demand. But, now micramax are bit arrogant with pricing and feature, they are acting like how samsung did in 2010, first good phone, then later on good phone with inflated price.

I think with moto G and E , all indian manufacturer need to reevaluate there strategy. they were slacking because everyone was buying it since every manufacturer provided similar features, prices and support. Now with motorola, its not same, they need to see the context of market value and brand recognition or they will loose lot of sales to moto easily.

I bought Canvas magnus couple of month back, about month later moto g was release, and i really though i made a mistake in purchasing canvas magnus at that price even though there is nothing wrong with magnus. Its just small things which can swing the argument like gorilla glass protection, android updates, brand value and resale, and definitely build quality.

So, i think its good that we have moto and nokia releasing decent phone at decent price, indian smartphone maker were getting greedy with pricing.

it contains MT6582M chipset that is 1.3GHz quadcore processor with 1GB RAM and mali400 GPU...so they are back in the game...
i believe we are just about to get a kitkat really very soon...so just hold your breadth and keep your fingers crossed ....

Well my friend the Opus is broadcommn and it don't match the MT6589, MT6582 Broadcommn released their Kitkat source so the update was given where as in case for Micromax devices most are Mediatek which the company don't release sources due to the technology of Dual Sim which has dual active which is false proof where as Broadcommn is not having such a "One in the world" tech so it takes time to release the update sources and if the sources come other chip set makers have to worry!

What are you talking about brother..
Opus is also a dual Sim mobile, And when it comes to source code it's actually not legal to keep source codes unfolded.
Till now whatever I have reader on XDA they always say MTK own a copy of source codes to every single user, And you can see mmx releasing more n more devices rather than taking care of the users who already trusted them.

CM11 4.4.3 has been made available for our magnus by some hard working devs. Shame on Micromax , just keeps releasing new phones everyday and doesn't even care to release software updates to old phones
