I am having the same issue with my OnePlus 7 Pro on 10.0.3.GM21BA. I am still trying to figure out if it is a software or hardware issue as I am reading different things. I used to use a third party dialer which I stopped using now for the last few days and the echo issue seems to be gone. I am wondering if people experience the issue with the stock dialer as well?

Yes, I experience it with the stock dialer.

I've opened a ticket with OnePlus and they accepted my phone for repair. It's on it's way back (on the website it says that they repaired it), so I will let you know if the issue is fixed when I get my phone back.

I've got my phone back. Apparently in my case it was a hardware issue. The sub-board that is also holding the sim reader was replaced (part no 1041100055) and my echo problem is gone.
It seems that OnePlus offers very fast warranty service. I've shipped my phone on Monday, and on Thursday I've received it back.

Thanks for the update. I've upgraded to the OpenBeta 9 but the problem is still there so I think I have to bite the bullet and send it back for repair as well. Just a pain backing everything up and setting things up again :(

I don't know if you have root or not but using TWRP to backup is one way or if you don't have root:

https://9to5google.com/2017/11/04/how-to-backup-restore-android-device-data-android-basics/

Actually my OnePro 7 Plus is the first phone I haven't rooted so far. Unfortunately unlocking the bootloader will wipe everything so I can't even do this just for the purpose of doing TWRP backup now. Once I get round to backing up everything manually and get the phone back from repair I think the first thing I will do is to unlock and root it...

Mostly everything is saved in the cloud these days... with the exception of some settings, when I've restored from Google backup I got the same experience as before. One note though, I am using Nova Launcher which allows to backup the layout and settings of the launcher.

None of these fixes and circumstances apply to me. Noticed people have complained many times on 10.3 and now 10.3.1...assistant always disabled. People complainthey they hear themselves talking in speaker. Off speakerphone they say it is fine.

It's one of many reasons why this is my last OnePlus. That's what you get for hiring a bunch of Dev rom builders off xda and make them the leads on your pet OP phone experiment.

Both Google dialer and stock do it.

Finally gave up, backed up as much as I could, wiped the device and sent it back for repair. Turnaround was 4 days from sending it to getting it back and the fix was the same as for spawny_ro - they replaced the Sub-board (1041100055)!

Well....looks like I spoke too soon. Despite the "repair" the issue is still there! Back to support and sending it back again - at least this time round I have a TWRP backup

I installed the app called 2G-3G-4G shortcut from the android market. You can choose from many network bands to see with which will work better.Worked for me.I chose LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM and i think that the phone now works good. Now people don't say that they hear an echo when speaking with me on the phone.I hope that this will help you.

Hello, everyone _ dealing with the same non-sense Oneplus repaired the phone but my educated guess is that nobody tested. The humming sound and the echo is still there on a repaired phone. Backing up my phone to send it back one more time. To me, this is a software issue and they should release a patch for it. They are lots of people having the same Echo problem yet there is no official fix.
Got this device thinking it was going to be slid yet one cannot make phone calls on it - whats the point?

Correct this Issue is caused by the always listening feature from Google Assistant and was discovered months ago people should really try reading threads. This also has nothing to do with op ,oos, custom roms, or whatever else any of you think. It's just the Google assistant listening feature. Turn it and it will stop.

this problem is from live caption for me, whenever i switch roms I disable "Device personalization services" and "accesibility suite" and make sure they do not update from the playstore. I tested this, if the update the echo is there and deleteing the update or disabling the app does not fix it. if I stop them from updating there is no problem. I think live caption plays the audio from the speaker back into the mic and that is where the problem is coming from.
the main culprit is "Device personalization services".

you can test is, flash a new rom and disable it right away and check.

Same here, OP7 Pro, native call recording app enabled via jOnePlus Tools, no root. Happens both with recording in AAC and WAV formats, with and without Google always listening. No echo when using Bluetooth device. Echo only audible to other call participant, echo not audible in recording. 10.3.3.GM21AA.

Seconded. This exactly for me as well.

It started when I updated to Android 10. Also, the echo only occurs when I have call recording enabled and I am speaking on the phone normally (not through Bluetooth or speakerphone).

    Hi all,

I have noticed that people voice talking to me (phone, whatapp, ect ) are complaining with echo on their side

I have to lower the headset volume to stop this echo. It do not occur with bluetooth

I think that the noise reduction mic on the top is to sensible but I'm not a specialist. Support have received my device with no problem discovered

I have tryed the hard reset but same issue

Do you encounter the same issue on your OP7 Pro ?

    Thank all

Same issue on my girlfriend device...

Do you happen to have call recording enabled. That only happens to me if I use it. When I don't use the recording tweak there is no echo for the other person.

I may have found a solution for this but need to test for a few more days. It's not hardware related, software tweaks. Will post back soon.

It's been almost a week and no echo after I applied some changes. I should note that I updated to 10.3.0 a few days and no echo did not come back. I'm not sure which of these fixed the ECHO problem but it's worth a shot if you have the same problem as me. I'm in the USA on T-Mobile network using a global version OP7P from OnePlus. I'm not saying this will fix your issue but this is what I did to fix my problem that appeared after installing 10.0.3.

1 - Download App: Activity Launcher by Adam Szalkowski

2 - Close all apps and open Activity Launcher

3 - (Inside Activity Launcher) Go to Phone Services section to Roaming:
    Phone_Services_Roaming.jpg

4 - My Domestic Roaming was toggled to the left (off) for Voice & Text roaming, Data roaming. I toggled them on (to the right as seen in pic):
    Phone_Services_Roaming2.jpg

5 - Close window in step 4 to go back to Activity Launcher, go to Settings section to Mobile network:
    Settings_Mobile_network.jpg

6 - Made sure my Roaming, VoLTE was on and TAKE NOTICE of "PREFERRED NETWORK TYPE" and change appropriately or to what is in the screenshot:
    Settings_Mobile_network2.jpg

7 - Close window in step 6 to go back to Activity Launcher, go to Phone section to Phone (phone.carrierconfiguration). Click UPDATE and it'll update for a few seconds, click UPDATE again and it'll run again for a few seconds, click on OK :
    Phone_Phone_carrierconfiguration.jpg

8 - Close window in step 7 to go back to Activity Launcher. Close Activity Launcher and restart phone. Make two phone calls, maybe three to be safe. The first one never echo'd for me but every call after that did when I had the problem.

    I hope this helps anyone.

    Fix - Attempt 2

Alright, after getting a chance to play around with more settings after my Echo came back last week, it has gone away now. Here is what I did, and cross fingers this keeps it away:

1 - Download Engineering Mode APK and install: https://mega.nz/?fbclid=IwAR303Pss6...Y!YWzum5MbKIlIRJKlusBr3hyzyaiGi-2jYQWocLddgbI

2 - Close all current apps and open Activity Launcher (from previous post) and go to Engineering Mode and select Audio:

    3 - Select Dual Microphone:
    80808578_2225362367566918_142622824379449344_n.jpg

4 - Click on OPEN and select Use Primary Mic Only per screen shot here:
    81211985_1029279577431670_2100331620123803648_n.jpg

5 - Close out of all apps and restart.
