I've seen some threads about SR users reporting echo when using a case. I'm looking for something that provides good protection, but is echo free, and ideas?

You'll need to find a case where "both" mic holes (top and bottom) are larger than those on the phone itself. Too many of these cases have tiny holes and thus if not "perfectly" aligned will block all or part of the mic.

Will this cause you to hear an echo of your OWN voice or the voice of the person you are talking to? I ask because my girlfriend just got an iPhone 4s and has an Otterbox Defender case on it and has been complaining of an echo.

The echo I experienced with the SGP Neo Hybrid and some others with the Otterbox were such that when I would talk to someone (my end would be loud and clear), while they would report hearing an echo when they spoke. I removed my case and no more echo.

I'm now running the Seidio case with no problems. :)

+1 for the Seido cases, all of the Mic holes line up and are larger than the ones on the phone its self. I am constantly on speakerphone stranded on conference calls at work and never get any complaints. (I switch between the Active and Surface Cases depending on where I am going that day.)

I have the casemate pop case and there is no echo. I like it better than the otterbox commuter.

Bumping an old post.
- I got a otter-box commuter case put on my AT&T S2 skyrocket and everyone is complaining of echo on their side (i.e. they hear themselves)

I see that there is a hole on the top and the bottom. Should I enlarge these?

Appreciate if someone can share the specifics (those who successfully modified the commuter case).

Have the same problem... took the case off.
