A Modem / Baseband determined :
  • Carrier-receiving
  • Internet speed
  • GPS
  • WIFI

In most cases it is subjective. Your carrier, topography, location, time of day / night, network congestion, and distance from cell tower etc all make huge difference.you can try it for your self , what modem the best is for you

List:

Installation Steps CWM/TWRP :

  1. Reboot to Recovery
  2. flash modem.zip
  3. Reboot!

Thanks to @dkionline

    Modem for GT-I9300T Mislabeled I9300XXUGOK1

Edit: I found the real I9300XXUGOK1 modem (2015-Nov-25) for the S3 i9300 from the most recent Samsung firmware 4.3 for New Zealand (NZC) and made a Recovery flashable zip with it & tested on my S3 phone to confirm (screenshot) so I am attaching it to this post as well as I9300UBUGNK1 (2014-Nov-6) which is the most recent in the Samsung stock 4.3 GT-i9300 firmwares for Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay, Ireland and works great in Costa Rica where I live @ the present even if it is downloadable from the page #1.

@dkionline feel free to rename it & upload to your server to replace the mislabeled T.zip. Sorry I don't have a .tar.md5 version to replace your other one.

Edit 2: I forgot to mention that you should do a EFS Partition Backup - No Service Fix before flashing modems just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for keeping online all those GT-i9300 modems.

Just to point out 2 mistakes:

1- The modem you labeled modem_CWM_I9300XXUGOK1.zip here is in reality for the GT-i9300T (Australia & New Zealand). Looking in the modem.bin file with Wordpad for example and searching for modem you can read I9300TDUUGOK1 SP6260_M0_MODEM_03.1508_DB150216 2015-Nov-16 this is confirmed after installing it on my GT-i9300 as you can see in the attached screenshot.
    Modem_I9300TDUUGOK1_Mislabeled_curiousrom.png

    Check this search: I9300TDUUGOK1 site:samsung-firmware.org

I don't know what is in that modem firmware exactly but checking in Comparison Samsung GT-i9300 Galaxy S III vs. Galaxy S3 Samsung GT-i9300T Galaxy S III it says that the GT-i9300T does not include support for the UMTS900 (B8) band and GPS GLONASS protocol like the GT-i9300 does.

2- The modem you labeled modem_Odin_I9300DUUGOK1.tar.md5 here is also for the GT-i9300T. Inside the modem.bin file you can read I9300TDUUGOK1. So the T is missing in your label.

As a rule of thumb I would say it is better to install the most recent modem for your country/region/network provider
combo. One can check the most recent Samsung GT-i9300 firmware for your region/network provider, check the modem version on that page and download the corresponding modem file.

updato - says Phone instead of Modem on the respective firmware pages @ the present. This site is better for downloading full Samsung stock i9300 firmwares IMO.

https://samsung-firmware.org/model/GT-I9300/ - Says modem number on the respective firmware pages.

After trying it I returned to I9300UBUGNK1 (SP6260_M0_MODEM_03.1422_DB140528 2014-Nov-6) which is the most recent in Samsung stock 4.3 GT-i9300 firmwares for Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay, Ireland and works great in Costa Rica where I live @ the present.

Thanks :good: again for your efforts & sharing those modem files.
