Why dont you just buy a second battery would be a lot cheaper and easier to carry around

I had 2 batteries for my previous phone, I can confirm it was a royal pain in the ass:
  • keeping the spare one charged (I had a desktop charger that had a space for the spare battery, but it soon stopped working)
  • having to take the battery out & reboot

Such is the design of the DHD that the less I have to open the plastic compartments, the better :)

It does also depend on what you want the extended usage for: I wanted to be able to record a GPS track for 5-6 hours at a time (mountain-biking), so stopping to change a battery, wait for reboot & then start the appropriate app took me 10 minutes once :(

Everyone's needs will be different, but for me at least, the 5000mah power pack is just right for me.

I use a PowerMonkey for mine. I get about 1.5 charges out of it. I miss my exspect recharge4 (left it at am ex's house) that thing was great, you really do get 4 full charges from it. Hard to find them now though. My PowerMonkey cost about £36 from Mailing in the UK.
