Hi guys, thank you fbriere56 for all the information and help you provide!

I have a quick question for anyone who succeeded in updating to emui10 though, as I couldn't find a clear answer.
Would I keep my bootloader unlocked (and the ability to flash roms) if I upgrade my phone from 9.0 to 10.0 via HiSuite and HiSuite Proxy?
And if yes, would you advise me to flash 9.1 first or can I update from my 9.0 version directly ?

Thanks in advance.

FYI: Actually the plan is that I've built EMUI10 open source kernel that has been released by Huawei and would like to try it on one of those 10.0.0.161 as I think that it wouldn't work on my 9.0 version and I need the bootloader to stay unlocked :)

Best regards.

Simple answer is no. Not right now. And your kernel is probably missing many "blobs" to work with everything.

Maybe if you find a way to boot directly from an image (bootimg/kernel) then be in a single user situation and later find a way to extract everything. (Huawei devices are a mess)

And you need (emui10) at least to have root perms on the device to start with something. (kernel exploit(s) that work with EMUI10)

Good luck they are not Google phones.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I haven't looked at something I found a week ago.

Thank you for your clear answer !
I'm gonna dig into it on my spare time until I get bored and brick it :')

My next phone won't be a Huawei for sure... I actually don't understand their policy.. When they lost the right to use GApps and so on, I thought at first that they would provide more ways to unlock the boot loader in order for the community to either inject Gapps or create a ROM including it.
And from my understanding with EMUI10 they did the right opposite :|

Wouldn't spit on a good Google phone under $1000/€

I was looking again at the Huawei servers. (new scan)

First security patch for EMUI 10 was released yesterday for the P20 pro. (July 20)

Well this apply _probably_ for the .161 build.

This update improves system security with Android security patches.

Integrates Android security patches released in July 2020 for improved system security.
For more information on the security of Huawei EMUI system updates, please visit the official Huawei website: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/bulletin/2020/7/

Release date: 2020.07.20 Size: 405 mb
http://update.dbankcdn.com/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G5416/g1755/v435579/f1/

There is also one regarding the CLT-L04 C792 (Canada) fixing certain networks instability. (this one is an update related to the cust package)

I may have to take a look at the code from Hisuite Proxy before because theses packages are named like: update_base.zip/update_cust_CLT-L04_default_ca.zip/update_full_cust_CLT-L04_default_ca.zip

Edit: From what I see from the code it will _probably_ work just like doing an upgrade/downgrade or whatever. There is also the FullOTA-MF.

I will update on the subject later. Right now don't use them until I can confirm this.

Also theses files are not approved for installation at this moment.

Best regards

I can't see this new update on firmware finder app, where do you find it?

Help with CLT-L29 8.1.0.155 C636

It's still better to stay with your region but from my experience (clt-l04 to clt-al00, clt-al00 to clt-l29) no issue so far.

Hi!

I have been trying to update my P20 Pro but the links in the list are not working. I am in North Carolina and have not been able to update my device. Have the links been moved?

Thanks much!

How did you copy the links ? If you see some dots in your links you pasted them wrong. (Use copy link location, right click)

If you just selected them it will look like this:
Code:
http://update.dbankcdn.com/TDS/data/...55/v400515/f1/
instead of
Code:
http://update.dbankcdn.com/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G5416/g1755/v400515/f1/

And no, all the links are ok. Did you setup Hisuite under the section proxy to 127.0.0.1 port 7777 ?

Best regards.

So, I upgraded to 10.0.0.171 just to see, I will do an incremental upgrade to .172 after.

Note: We can use the OTA links in Hisuite Proxy, everything work as expected. Only thing, v436683 (.171) my device fail with the safetynet test.

EDIT:
10.0.0.172 (OTA) cause a bootloop when installing. Stuck at 5%. (nothing scary, it finally reboot normaly)

This is maybe caused by .171 (not confirmed)

Like I said Huawei told us that the build version will be .175 or .176. Theses builds are not certified. At least
right now. It's the same story as before when < .159 were out. (not certified)

So we have to wait. Well now I have to downgrade...

After almost 12 hours later. Just something I have to say, I downgraded to 10.0.0.161 v401360 and I don't see at all
Google feed crashing, same with Google Chrome. I will report later. (if you downgrade note that you have to do a low-level factory reset)

And .175 is probably going to release in a week or two max. (Well, at least on the Huawei servers)

Huawei has confirmed its older phones will continue getting security and software updates after its Google license expired this month. In response to a Huawei Nova 5T user on Twitter, Huawei said "there is no impact on existing devices."

"We will continue to share security and software updates to our devices, as we always have," Huawei tweeted Monday.

Hi there, thank you for your message. There is no impact on existing devices. We will continue to share security and software updates to our devices, as we always have. If you have any questions, please let us know via DM.
— Huawei Mobile (@HuaweiMobile) August 17, 2020

Huawei was blacklisted by the US in May 2019 when it was added to the country's "entity list" (PDF). Trump, at the same time, signed an executive order essentially banning the company in light of national security concerns that Huawei had close ties with the Chinese government. Huawei has repeatedly denied that charge.

While Android is open source and can be used by Huawei, the Chinese tech giant is barred from using Google services like the Play Store.

Huawei and Honor phones with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) solutions preinstalled on them will also receive software updates, Huawei reportedly said this week.

"Our customers can keep receiving software updates and services thanks to the strength of the open-source community and our own advanced R&D capabilities," Huawei reportedly said. "For phones with Google Play installed out of the box, all apps downloaded from Google Play and other Google apps will continue receiving updates. For phones that do not come with Google Play, new apps and updates can be managed through the preinstalled Huawei AppGallery."

10.0.0.171 ota arrived this morning.

Weird, both OTA for 10.0.0.171 are not certified here on my device, I just tried them again.

It is looking exactly like the .162 build "only" for Mexico. The right one here for NA is probably .172 but
the OTA is broken.

I would be curious if anyone here get the update and please setup an hotspot before you start the download and run something like Wireshark/tcpdump then
dump the pcap file here for analyze. I just want the official link.

Edit: New CUST package for the CLT-L04 C792.

CLT-L04-CUST 10.0.0.8(C792)
http://update.dbankcdn.com/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G5416/g1755/v435583/f1/

It's the package I was talking about a month ago but it was not approved for installation and not named.

Errata: Optimizes system compatibility with certain networks. Updating the cust package don't fix anything related to the .171 builds. (safetynet test)

I will try later with a full OTA of .172. Also, if you are running a recent build of Windows 10, Hisuite won't install at all. Here I used
an older version of it.
