Erase/reset EFS. This unlocks the phone (clears all unlock codes or sets them to all 0's). But you also lose IMEI and network settings by doing this. You also lose the IMEI certification. Without this you get no network. The only solution is to repair to a super IMEI to bypass the IMEI cert and restore nv items (network).

So...there IS a solution for those familiar with servicing GSM phones. For those looking for a solution as simple as the one for the Note 2, I wouldn't hold my breath. There's much more going on behind the scenes now.

So, does it mean it can be done? If so, how do I find someone who can do it?

Yes, it can be done. No, you cannot readily find someone to do it. It's illegal. There IS the documentation out there to do it yourself though. Most likely, you will end up messing up the phone if you don't have experience in it.

Man thats a troll-y reply. How is that helpful to anyone ? Stating something is illegal doesn't just make it so. We own our devices, and the rights to do what we choose with them. Enabling a band or frequency of the modem maybe unsupported software modification, and also void any warranty or corporate support from the manufacturer or the carrier, but in no way is it illegal, just the same as rooting isn't. If you are aware of an answer or the start of an answer to this thread that would be useful, otherwise stating the obvious of search XDA, because "someone knows", or google it, is a waste of time. Thank you for not contributing anything of relevance to this forum.

As for documentation, as with everyone else, I'm an avid Note 2 and 3 owner, and XDA'er... and the only thing I have seen corresponding to AWS band enabling is associated with the Note 2. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Not too sure where this hostility is coming from but I'd gladly invite the mods to delete my posts. I've shelled out to the community expecting nothing in return...I thought that a hint would be appreciated. Apparently the opposite is the case

I agree with blckout99. People are here looking for solutions, not warnings or lectures about legality that is unproven. If it is illegal, post the pertinent law. Besides, no one, (in this thread at least), is apparently up to anything nefarious.

I did post the solution. It's not my fault people want to be hand fed a one click solution without even clicking a thanks button. Clearing the EFS is WELL documented. I've PERSONALLY started a thread over on GSM hosting covering the AT commands needed to repair the IMEI through UART and Super IMEIs are all over gsm hosting under the SPT Box and Octopus Box section. Unless you're going to pay me to hold your hand through all this you're going to need to do research. It isn't a simple process.

IF anyone needs assistance with this, I'd be glad to answer questions. But I'm not going to answer "How do I unlock my Note 3" "How do I change IMEI" "I'm stuck but I haven't even read anything" or anything along those lines. The Note 3 is a complex device, and the EFS is even more secure. Unlocking wouldn't be for the "average" user.

of course!

did a little research on this...seems they want u to buy a box...LAME!..

most of us here already have our phones factory unlocked!...we are not trying to unlock our phones, we are trying to unlock the AWS bands dude!

i read into the SOT box and the OCTOPUS box! it will only do what we already haave!....as i said before....i think no one is working on unlocking the AWS bands like it was done for the note 2!:silly:

Didn't even see your other post lol. I ended up doing some reading on AWS. I thought you guys wanted an unlock. Guess I was the one who was misinformed! MANY apologies for looking like a prick.

Using nv items from a N900T on a N900A is a no no. I used nv items from a N900T on an N900A (I know...backwards but bear with me) and the phone was in a bootloop. Wipe data? Didn't fix it. FULL firmware flash...didn't fix it. I had to create nvrebuild1 and nvrebuild2 from scratch, package them into a tarball and load them through Odin. This was the ONLY way to get the phone out of the bootloop. So...for those of you thinking about using another device's nv items, you've been warned. The Note 3 is a completely different animal compared to the Note 2.

Yeah someone mentioned that a while back. Seems like Samsung patched this, whether inadvertently or not.

Using a method someone discovered for Sony phones, I MAY have discovered a method that would work. I'll update this post when I'm free to, but in the mean time I'll need someone who's good with Windows and has an AT&T Note 3 on a Samsung based ROM to be willing to test. It takes a few minutes to do..

If this works, it should theoretically work for every AT&T Qualcomm based device. As I said someone else discovered it but I came up with using it on an AT&T Note 3. Someone said they did it to a Rogers LG G3 and it enabled AWS HSPA+. Rogers phones = AT&T phones for those who don't know (but Canadian).

If someone sends me a QCN file (NV backup through QPST), I can edit the file and make it so all you have to do is flash the file back in QPST rather than having to do the work by hand with like 4 different programs.

In other words, you can do the work with the phone attached (read/write the info straight from the phone), or you can read the info to QCN file, then edit that file and flash it back. I'm proposing the latter if someone is willing to send it to me.

Let's go through this together.

1. Dial *#0808# and chose RMDIS+DIAG+ADB (I'm not sure if that's what it's called, but it's not the one with RMNET). Windows should install some drivers.

2. Open the program at C:\Program Files (x86)\Qualcomm\QPST\bin\RF_NV_Manager.exe

3. Click Setting -> Comport and pick the USB port with your phone attached to it (keep trying till you get the right one)

4. Click the first icon on top (Read NV from phone). You shouldn't get any errors; a popup window with a progress bar should come up.

5. Scroll down to line 1877. Paste this number exactly (you may have to right click and hit Paste): 115868416 That keeps all of the original bands enabled, and adds AWS HSPA+ (1700 MHz) on top to make it like the T-Mobile Note 3.

6. Click the Write NV button. You won't get any confirmation.

7. Reboot the phone and see if it works.
