@BFSSpider: I think the review mentioned the locked bootloader because the reviewer wasn't happy with Sense 3.0 and the locked bootloader prevents rooting of the Sensation. Hopefully this won't be an issue considering the announcement by HTC regarding their new locked bootloader policy.
Well, if that is the case, the remarks should be against sense, not the bootloader. Not everyone will be interested in unlocking their bootloader, even though, this community is pretty large.

Being picky is what they do, for ALL PHONES. Let's be honest, virtually all new flagships/top-level phones now are AWESOME, some be-it more than others.

To provide a helpful review they have to be picky, so we know ALL the pros and cons (whether they be small or big) so we can choose the right device for ourselves.
Agree. It just seems that the conclusion to this review didn't line up the rest of the reviews. Giving an 8/10 on the littlest of things compared to the SG2 where they knock build quality and display doesn't jive...

So true but the SG2 got 9/10. I just feel like the review doesn't match the score.

*snip*
Agree. You would think build quality and web page experience would be an 8 already...

Not the bloody boot loader. Sense 3.0 had more updates than just cosmetic. Lock screen, the addition to movies, and the way the camera takes photos now are pretty good improvements.

Christ, people are getting desperate when they're dissecting reviews to work out how their phone didn't get the same score as it's main competitor. Who cares? If you're happy with it who gives a s**t if a reviewer said the other phone was better overall? Oh no, it must be a conspiracy!

Fact: If you're looking for a T-Mobile phone, the Sensation >>>>> Galaxy S II.

Why? Because the Galaxy S II isn't coming to T-Mobile.

Any statement to the contrary is 100% rumor.

I've learnt that sometimes review scores aren't worth paying attention to (as the reasons for the score are so arbitrary). I just read the detail and make my own decision based on that.

Far from desperate. Most here are pointing out inconsistencies in reviews in comparison to others. Whether biased or open, everyone has their opinion :p

I'll pick up my Sensation as soon as it hits the shelves.

Totally agree. A review is someones OPINION, NOT FACT. How a phone operates to an operator is totally to that operators OPINION. Some will love this phone, some will hate it, some will say it's just ok. You should NOT buy a phone based on what Engadget says.

Apple phone will always get highest praise because lets face it, pretty much all tech web bloggers are apple fan boys. Samsung got a 9 and Sensation got an 8. If the reason the Sensation go 1 point less is because of a locked bootloader then bam, it's now a 9.

I read the reviews for the technical aspect of them and NEVER for their person opinion.

Read the Review of the SGS2. Build quality is not bad.
It's just a battle between platic (thiner, lighter, better if dropped) and aluminium (feels better in hand, more solid).

And, clearly, SGS2 wins when you come to web browsing (smoother, can handle a lot more flash content) and display quality (other than resolution, S-LCD on the Sensation seems to s**ks with poor viewing angles, washed colors and a lot inferior contrast and luminosity. It seems to be the poorer S-LCD out there).

Sentation has a lot of quality IMO (Sense 3.0 is the first of all) but SGS2 too.

Got sensation and desire. Personally, I think desire outperforms sensation screenwise by 50% easy, i mean it's that much better. Will be getting replacement tho (yellow tint on the screen, same as on the engadget video), will update after that.

You Sensation folks are funny. In one breadth you blast Samsung fanboys for coming here and talking about benchmarks and reviews saying they don't matter. In the next breath you run up three pages of discussion picking apart a review which, based on earlier statements, shouldn't matter. Everyone get the phone you want and be happy with it. In six months there will newer, better, and shiner phones than both the SGS2 and Sensation anyway. What's "best" in the eyes of some won't be in others. Sensation vs. SGS2 vs. (insert phone here) will always be an endless circuitous debate with no de facto winner.

Could you point out where in the videos is the yellow tint?

True, but don't generalise the "sensation folks" (btw if anything I am a GSII folks-person) but they're not, and we're not ALL like that. But there are a few, i agree with that :)

Second video in review. You can clearly see that screen is sort of washed out a bit compared to another one, and I'm not talking about viewing angles.
Tint was not that obvious whenI got sensation, and its almost non existent at full brightness, but as soon as brightness is lowered yellow tint/cast is there. I should have never put my desire next to it, its such a difference that it annoys me when I'm not even looking at the phone. Anyway, ill see if other ones in the store are ok and will report back.

And no, desire is not amoled, its slcd.

Really a shame for the screen. The viewing angles and colors are crap when compared to the Incredible S. I guess I'll suffer a lot until I get used to it since I'm coming from an AMOLED Desire. The only thing I can't stand on my AMOLED Desire is the PenTile Matrix arrangement and its reproduction of white.

Dang, I hope this is not a common issue please do report back.

I was going to order this phone online from a 3rd party, but now I'm worried since I doubt 3rd party retailers would be as easy going for returns/exchanges. This doesn't sound like a problem that can be photographed as proof if need be...

Could be desire s ? The s series all have super LCD screens I think super LCD is fine is has better whites and sharpness and super amoled has better colors and blacks. Can't be regular amoled cause its decent at best.

Just wanna say i held the sensation today it's the best ive felt a phone since my nexus 1. Sleek and it took me a minute to realize it was a 4.3 inch screen. Nowhere near the bulk of other 4.3 inch phones.

There is an led notification light. Its not rgb but better than having none at all.

I've upgraded from a nexus one. The screen is quite good. And the texts look amazing. And I have used it in bright sunlight aswell and it was very much useable. There are some software issues but I guess with updates and unlocked bootloader this phones going to be totally awesome.
