I got this sensation a few days ago. Love it. Best phone since the hero for me. I don't care about the galaxy 2 tbh. I didn't even consider getting it.
I was amazed that Vodafone hadn't managed to lock it to them though.
It's running happily on orange.
That engadget review was predictable.

I love how they try sooo hard to find any negatives... Locked bootloader? Really? I mean, it is a big deal here this this community, but, it wasn't a negative on any other phone review (iphone [hello?! jailbrake!], etc). It should have been a 9/10.
You think they are trying to be negative try reading the Techradar review of it.

Since i listen to their podcasts, i will come out and say it.

Vlad said he had trouble coming up with three cons for the GSII review and i would probably wait til the podcast to see what he says about sensation in person

Vodafone don't usually bother to lock a handset bought on contract (or for full price) as they've already got a legal means to extract the value from you (the contract you accepted). Why lumber you with a lock as well when it's meaningless. The only handsets they normally lock are the PAYG ones.

engadget review and Techradar review both have different opinions about 1 majot thing which is battery life, which i have no clue how can engadget say its amazing and Techradar say its awefull.. someone is probably doing something wrong there or Techradar got a faulty unit

If you read, they do say that they thibk tthey've got a faulty unit, and so they're going to request another unit.

Maybe this explains the other differences in the two reviews over camera speed and call quality?

It blows my mind that the majority thinks that engadget deducted a point from the score because the bootloader is locked.

If it would be a freakin awesome phone it would get a 10/10, if the phone would be awesome it would get a 9/10. But the phone is not that, it is a great phone, that's why it's getting a 8/10.

The locked bootloader is a downside yes, but it doesn't way heavily into the score, or else it would have gotten a 7.

Either way, what is so bad about an 8, and why do you care so much what engadget thinks? The review covers the goods and the bads, you know everything you need to know about the phone before purchasing. So who cares what the score is, you know what the phone is all about now, that is the point of a review.

Kids these days find the score more important than the actual review.

Simply put the gs2 got 9/10 and now some ppl carnt cope with the fact they bought the second best phone on the market hence the reason for this thread.

Who cares what a review says??? A review is nothing more than an opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions, right? I've read reviews that praised the Sensation as a better phone than the SGSII. Bottom line is this: the better phone is what the end user feels is a better phone, nothing more, nothing less.

I've made no secrets of the fact that I feel, based on my previous ownership experiences with both HTC and Samsung, that the Sensation is a better choice. As far as people being upset that their phone is number two (again, who cares what Engadget thinks???), I highly doubt it. I make enough money to easily afford both phones, but I will give my money to the manufacturer whom I trust more than the competitor. That's it.

No one thinks Engadget assigns the best phones on the market. All criticism on this thread because of inconsistency between review and score. Not that we care but it doesn't change the fact that there is.

I just got back from a Vodafone store, playing a little bit with the Sensation.

I have to say, great phone... But the browsing experience isn't as good as expected. In this point I do have to agree with Engadget. The scrolling is a bit laggy, which i didn't expect using a dual core phone.

Nevertheless it is a great phone, especially once the bootloader is open.

been trolling around in the gs2 forum and it seems fair to say that justification of purchase seem more on you guys that are here trying to make yourselves feel better about your purchase.. just stating what i am seeing and as kgbkny said i am going with HTC because of a sour taste from samsung and their galaxy sucks series.. i am not goin to argue with anyone about which phone is better we will see in the long run how this turns out. maybe i will regret buying the sensation over the gs2 or maybe i will be extremely happy only time will tell.. unlike when i unboxed the galaxy s 4g and was ready to get rid of it the next day.

Simple
Both reviewers have different perspective on what is a good battery life and what isn't.

Judging by the size of this thread, quite a few Sensation owners. As to the comparison between the phones, dare I say it, but judging by some of the overly defensive posts I have seen you upload on this forum, perhaps you're not quite as comfortable about your choice as you have made out.

I agree with your point though. People shouldn't care what a review says, they should be happy with their phone no matter which one they have.
