Hi all,

Came across this in my travels :)

Hopefully it is legit.
Can someone (perhaps a DEV) more Samsung orientated than myself check this out....

Looks to be EngBoot for G930P/G935P and possiblly other QCOMM based models, hence posting in the T-Mobile forum (as it seems more active).

Thanks

Stifilz

P.S if nothing comes from this feel free to edit/delete this thread... just trying to help out everyone in a tight spot :)

Just downloaded. Before I flash anything which I won't unless loafs of people confirm lol. Putting on my Linux box and untarring

Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
it worked for me, now shows RCS icon and VoLTE icon in statusbar

you will lose wifi passwords upon restarting your phone as well as turning Wi-Fi on and off. and a security notice will appear which can be removed by freezing security log(i think you know what im talking about)

kernel is dated for april 22
Also I just Odin'd the zip file under AP. Didnt unzip it

So flashing the ENG Boot break WiFi? Does it give you the ability to flash SuperSU.zip? Have you tried using a systemless root zip? Now that it has been a day or so have you come across any other issues with the flash?

Thanks!

Ok to answer my own question. I have the SM-935t and I flashed the one for 935p and it would not boot was stuck on the tmobile screen then it would reboot again. Held down the power vol up and home for what seemed like forever and got it into recovery where i did a factory wipe and wiped cache. And it booted through the phone setup and now is working. Now to discover what I can do.

The guy who released the file suggested reflashing the stock firmware if you run into any issues and flashing the tar file again. Seems the phone needs to be stock setup (nothing stock disabled) prior to flashing this file.

Can you do me a favor and check KNOX? I'm getting ready to test on the Verizon S7 Edge but I'm curious if KNOX will be triggered to 0x1.

Things I've noticed so far.

System is custom so no Samsung Pay.
Knox is not tripped though.
Boot up screen has an unlocked lock on it with the words custom.

I think a good step in the right direction would be to pull the aboot from the phone. Once you have that, a talented developer might be able to reverse it.

just checking back in, i tried different methods for root/ twrp but they didnt work which i knew wouldnt work lol

i would recommend just leaving the files as is and letting the devs work on this. also i went back to stock by using odin, i noticed slowdowns with the engboot

I noticed lag but it was the same kind when I had all the apps enabled. Disabled all the bloatware and gonna see how battery is with the engboot

That's not exactly how it works, his aboot wasn't modified in the process. He simply flashed a signed kernel created for internal use that gives you slightly more control over the system.

If we have adb root with this method, why could we not dump the aboot? Once we have that if Sig verification could be bypassed, then a bootloader could be loaded. The key is finding an exploit in the aboot, if one exists. But without a dump, there is no way of knowing. Without the Sig verification we could flash the unlocked Qualcomm bootloader from Hong Kong or whatever. Just brainstorming. I am sure someone has already tried and failed at this, but if not... why not give it a shot?
