I am not a developer but this makes intuitive sense to me....but what do I know.

Logically, this won't be any more successful than trying to flash the HK firmware now. The bootloader isn't touched when you flash the engboot, so anything that doesn't flash now won't flash after it's installed.I didn't get a chance to backup my phone and test yesterday but here's my thoughts....
Flash the engboot. Once that's done I'm going to try and flash pieces of the HK qualcomm firmware which has an unlocked bootloader. Since the kernel is different it should allow for another firmware to be installed. In the other xda thread the guy posted the firmware for the hk firmware
You're may be correct, just trying things. Also here an exploit for root that was tried prior to installing the engbootLogically, this won't be any more successful than trying to flash the HK firmware now. Here is a root exploit I found and compiled with the help of the users over at the G5 forum. It didn't work for us, but it might for you guys. Here is how you run it, and the source code is available here: https://github.com/solitarywarrior1/G5-Root/blob/master/exploit.cpp (thanks @solitarywarrior1 for fixing the code!)
Here's the zip, unzip it and then do
adb push a /data/local/tmp
adb shell
cd /data/local/tmp
chmod 777 a
./a
Then choose either "./a 1" or "./1 verify"
MAKE SURE AUTO ROTATE IS OFF!!!!
Indeed, anything that might result in root in the long run is a good thing. I have a couple of friends who are desperate for root on the Qualcomm S7/S7E hence my interest. You're may be correct, just trying things. Also here an exploit for root that was tried prior to installing the engboot
Will what work?? If your asking if the engboot will work on Verizon yes, I got it to install properly. As for your question there's not much to answer since we don't have anything as of yet to even discuss. Please don't start the whole "will this work for x brand" as of right now we have nothing. If you have some ideas please share. Let's not clutter this thread with pointless commentsWill this work on the verizon S7 Edge?
The eng kernel is generic, instead of being device specific. So, that's just how it's going to be, from what I've read. This made my phone lag soo bad xD no complaints tho, I went back to stock rom because of the lag
YesDoes the eng kernel have dm-verify enforced?
