I already was on Xiaomi.eu MIUI 13 A12, but MIUI sucks... Now I'm on DerpFest and I love this clean AOSP UI

MIUI 12.5/13 - A12 have a lot of bugs :
- Storage, can't open/access some files from apps like WhatApp, Telegram, Adobe
- DPI/DP settings is always resetted on reboot, fonts/polices are Bigs and scale so big even at the low level
- Always some notifications sounds problems (custom sounds other than system are not played or resetted)
- Lags, always animation shuttered when swith from launcher/apps/recents

And above all, always ANY compatibility with gestures for 3rd launcher from 2020...

Hello guys,

The only bug that I've found so far, is Ok google not working even when set in English. Is there any workaround?

Thanks for your help.

The recovery seem to be flash with success, so go on recovery (Power + VOL+) instead fastboot (Power + VOL-)
I just did this and nothing. No recovery boots up and it just shows mi logo, then restarts process again. (even tho i hold power button and volume+ together)

Edit: Just thought it might be important to mention that im currently on miui 13 A12. But i dont think thats the issue

I finally got los recovery to boot up and install the rom then i ran into this issue that I've already seen in this thread. Is there a way around it? Could i please get some help

At first it seems like the rom flashed fine (even tho it shows its stcuk at 47)
When i try to boot up into the os it doesnt boot.
I think its related to the "adb: failed to read command: No error"

Edit: I've now fixed this issue. Since i was on miui 13 A12 i had to downgrade back to miui 12. But since twrp doesnt work on A12 yet i had to install an old miui 12 via fastboot then update to the latest miui v12.5 and install it with twrp. After installing this i followed the whole process explained in the OP and it worked like a charm.

Hi there. Please forgive me for poor English.
I have installed this ROM on the Chinese version of Mi 11 several times.
I installed it according to the guide and succeeded, but after booting or setting up, "System UI and settings are stopped" is displayed and I cannot turn off the power or operate it (except for forced power off).
After that, I tried format data and reinstallation of ROM, but I have the same problem.
I also tried installing from different MIUI versions and regions (CN / Global / xiaomi.eu) and the results are the same.
Tried installing another AOSP ROM, but it boots normally.
Do you have any solution? Or are there any users with similar issues?

Hey, so I'm loving DerpFest and there are practically zero bugs, but one big issue I found is that people have told me that they can hear themselves in regular calls, VoIP calls, and social media app (e.g. Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.) calls, especially on speaker mode (less noticeable on handset mode). I did some research and found out that this is a common issue with AOSP ROMs and Xiaomi dual mic phones, since the AOSP ROM does not correctly use the two mics for noise cancelling. Has anyone else experienced this on LOS, SSOS, DFOS, or any other AOSP ROMs on the Mi 11? I looked into editing /vendor/etc/sound_trigger_mixer_paths.xml as suggested in the Poco F1 echo fix XDA thread, but I don't think DEC7 and DEC8 are the correct dual mic IDs for this device. If any devs can figure this out, I'd be happy to buy you a 🍺 for your help in making AOSP truly perfect on this device with this one important fix.

I just flashed this today and first impressions are it is a very fast and clean ROM. Great job really! No major problems so far only 2 minor issues with the automatic updates. It keeps saying i have a bad connection but that is not the case.
Also there is some screen flickering going on which is rather annoying.

Been running this ROM for a few weeks now and am pretty happy with it - thanks!

Biggest bug i've seen is the system ui locks up when using FOD but its very rare and I haven't bothered getting logs for it yet.

Its very common for the camera to try an open when I unlock the device, is there a gesture setup for the camera somewhere? Had a look and can't see it, I think its related to pressing the power button twice.

I wanna know if there is a way to get the DrepFest ROM without Gapp inside? Because google's service can't be used in my region, and verification just can't be passed.
My phone (xiaomi Mi 11) is on stable MIUI CN now, and for me, MIUI really sucks. I've flashed DrepFest ROM before, but I can't remove Gapp out.
BTW, DrepFest ROM IS a verry nice ROM I've seen, and I really appreciate if someone can help me.
Have a nice day :)

Yes this is the biggest problem. I really hope that this will be fixed, it's been a while since the last update I hope this Rom isn't EOL already.

Can confirm this issue with all AOSP based roms on the Mi11.

I spoke with people on the Mi 11 telegram. Tried the following to no avail:

- replacing in audio_policy_configuration.xml the following:
<route type="mix" sink="voip_tx"
sources="Built-In Mic,Built-In Back Mic,Wired Headset Mic,BT SCO Headset Mic,USB Device In,USB Headset In,Telephony Rx"/>

- Your link with DEC7 DEC8.

I think it has to do with the aec/ns pre-processing effect not being applied to those calls. More information here:

If someone who understands the audio framework can figure out how to confirm those effects are actually used in voip_tx, that would help tremendously!

Since the issue does NOT occur during a regular phonecall, comparing both should help us resolve the issue!

I will also gladly offer more than a beer to whomever finds a solution to this problem!

Yes there are many bugs but unfortunately this project is dead so don't expect any updates. OP dumped it here and never looked back, I tried messaging him for some info but no response.

I'm facing some issues with the Google Assistant, as it shows 'This feature is currently unavailable for this language" whenever I try to enable 'Hey Google and Voice match'.

My current device language is English (UK) altough I'm facing the same issue with Spanish (Spain). Any ideas?

Also, as other users have mentioned, I believe that the microphone volume is quite low (eg. Whatsapp voice notes)

Everything else works pretty good. It's a daily for me.
