Funny that... I've been flashing roms since getting the Samsung Galaxy in 2009 and not always is full wipe needed. And if there's nothing specified in OP then the question will be asked. So I don't think you're 'bird feeding' theory applies here
If you dirty flash a totally new Rom with different architecture, I think if you report a bug the first answer will be.... CLEAN FLASH.
Even with roms having backup scripts to preserve your gapps, you can have bugs occurring along dirty flashes. I've personally experienced that many times. Then Clean Flash again.
Do a dirty flash but don't come and complain as the gold standard is clean flash. Even if it's bothering, much longer I agree. Flashing roms in development is considered as testing, and behind the childish and boring warnings (like thermonuclear war, warranty void and other stupid things) the underlying is that if no procedure is stated then first flash at least is clean. There are enough nonsense bug reports here no need to add.
And no need to make a pee distance contest saying that you're flashing since 2009. I'll leave you answering and be a good shepherd then.
