1) I have faced this issue on every custom ROM. Not sure if it's my fault. If you stop the phone ringtone suddenly, for e.g. by picking up or rejecting the call, it gets somewhat distorted. Like it crackles. I haven't installed any audio mods.
2) Play services is my top battery consumer. I don't use location or wifi. Cellular data is on 24 hrs. Don't know what am I doing wrong.
3) Can someone guide me how to install a fairly stable gcam. I have tried reading and installing a few. But the range is so diverse that I don't fully understand which one to use, do i need to use magisk module, gcam to be used as a standalone apk or to be flashed via twrp, and other similar doubts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

(2) Make sure you're flashing the rom with the latest bluspark twrp. That helped with my play services bug.

I uploaded it and shared it from my drive. You can trust the file or get it elsewhere, lol.

I have been facing horrible play services battery drain on almost every custom rom for a few months. It emerged out of no where. And I couldn't find the cause in 3 or 4 months. Hardly anyone else faced it. Also I have been using sian's twrp since I don't know when. Maybe using what you have shared can help as it did with you. Can i dirty flash the rom again using bluspark twrp? What do you think?

What exactly was the play services bug you had been facing?
Also, I do trust over the gdrive file. :fingers-crossed::angel:
Thanks

I found the one that ROM dev posted in this thread just a few pages back, along with the LAST UPDATE post. It really appears to be good. Thank you.
Just a small query. Do i need to flash/install anything else, for e.g. some magisk module enabling hevc or camera 2 api?

2) Play services drain is most likely due to some rogue app or some sync settings that has gone corrupted. Usually its unrelated to the rom. And derpfest adds very few Gapps. That said I always remove the gapps that comes pre-installed in this rom and I use this GMZ doze module which helps a lot.

3) Just install the latest Urnyx GCam APK. All the necessary cam specific magisk modules are baked into the rom.

Help comes when you ask for it. Thank you for making me realize this.
After removing the pre-installed gapps, do you flash any open gapps package like pico?
Also does using gms doze cause any notification issue?

Hello.
1) That's custom rom related. My suggestion would be to make a ringtone with *.ogg extension. Mp3s, especially with high bit rate are just unstable.
2) Check the permissions and blocks, especially for Internet (background services, modify system settings, etc. ). Once I have disabled playstore's ability to background check (heartbeat) and Internet ability at data saver - g services went mad :D Another time I was playing with the g wakelocks. Beware - that's another case to make an big mess.
3) This rom is gcam ready (all libs and mods are preinstallled, so just follow the recommended build, which is posted along with every rom update.

Nope just flash and go. No magisk needed for that gcam

1) Nope, by Gapps I just mean the user accessible apps such as Chrome, Google Keyboard, Photos, Gmail, Calendar etc which can always be reinstalled from play store if needed. I didn't remove any services or critical apps like Phone or Google Play Services. The reason for doing so is the Gapps baked in are system apps which behave randomly when I Greenify them. The same when installed as user apps are much easier to control.

2) I haven't faced any issue till now. As soon as I enable sync, everything works fine.

Also try the following :
  • Greenify : It hibernates the app if running in the background in a smart way and saves some battery. I would recommend buying the donation package.
  • App Ops: This helps a lot. It lets you control the permissions allowed for each app at a granular level. It offers much more than the AOSP app ops built into the ROM.
  • Try disabling Google Play Services permissions when you are not using them. Most 3rd party apps rely on these GPS permissions nowadays. I would recommend using an automator like Tasker which will automatically toggle back these permissions when you want sync / notifications to work.

I was experiencing some blank screens and ghost touches probably because of some rogue app so I decided to do a clean flash. I did a complete wipe including internal storage and flashed the rom then magisk. After setting up, I was unable to pass CTS and my device is not certified on playstore. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Seems that Google has changed some stuffs on SafetyNet Test.
Currently the Telegram group is spammed about that.
I fixed it installing SafetyPatcher from Magisk Modules Repo on latest stable Pie build.

Yeah I joined telegram today and saw the messages. I was suggested to edit the build prop to change the device fingerprint but I've had bad experience editing the build prop before and I don't know if I wanna go back that lane. I'll check out the magisk module and see if I can pass the CTS. Thanks!

Edit: Installed the module and passed CTS but cannot find device certification in Play Store settings. Option seems to be missing all of a sudden.

    DerpFest Update!

Since AOSiP officially exists for our device I started to use their devices source. But somehow I wanted to tinker with it again. This release focuses mainly on a complete rebase of the device source. I tried to get some stuff from other devs and migrated completely to EAS. I hope it goes well for everyone. ;)

    DerpFest update!

Some may already have noticed that there will be official AOSiP builds soon and I can highly recommend them to anyone who needs a solid and stable experience. Comparisons device side are welcome with me. So please let me know if something works better with the official AOSIP.
Since there are soon official AOSiP builds available, I changed the stock kernel name for DerpFest to Kronic, because Illusion is usually used by the official AOSiP builds. And since I was very happy with Weeb last week, I just stick with it for this time.
I've also noticed that there are these "Phone is starting" problems, as with other LOS based ROMs since a while. I keep on observing and watching users' reports and may remove LiveDisplay soon for this reason if no solution can be found.

    Changelog:
    - Switched to Weeb 2.314 CodeName: Behemoth (thanks to @idkwhoiam322)
    - Updated GPS from LA.UM.7.4.r1-05100-8x98.0
    - Updated IPA from LA.UM.7.4.r1-05100-8x98.0
    - Updated display props from CAF
    - Wifi: Enabled 2.4GHz channel bonding
    - Removed bugreport service (this was triggered by holding down volume down, volume up and power. Some had wondered where that suddenly came from and reported that as issue)
    - Telephony: Ignore RSSNR signal level
    - KeyHandler: Swapped top and bottom slider keycodes (thanks to @Codebucket)
    - VibratorStrengthPreference: Replaced test vibration when slider was moving with a test vibration when moving stopped (thanks to @Codebucket)
    - Updated to Google Camera DotFix v4.41
    - Fixed Front cam on Playground
    - Fixed Fontservice for status bar and QS panel

    - Settings: Adapt search bar layout to Android Q

    DerpFest Update!

This update brings a few major changes. I couldn't let it go. Sorry, but I can't live with it if I can't get something working. So Bootlegger's date styles are finally fixed. Implemented on top of AOSiPs Q clock (left aligned like Q). Also 24h support is back. I have added some translations that have been made available to me before (Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Russian). Please let me know if you are able to correct translations in case you find issues.
Thanks to Josh, the lead dev of AOSiP, we can now also freely select system theme accents via hexcode. No more restrictions, everyone can use their favourite colour. I've also set the Q clock to use this.

Cheeseburger is provided again by @David. Many thanks to him for his help.

    Changelog:
    Device:
    - Updated kernel clang to 9.0.6
    - Imported translations for OnePlus device settings

    ROM:
    - Added Bootleggers date styles back
    - Imported Lockscreen clock fronts from Bootleggers
    - Removed Fruity pebbles and introduced RGB accenter from POSP
    - Q Clock "it's" follows RGB accenter now
    - Q Clock: Added 24h support back
    - Added LOS Recorder with system audio recording support
    - Added Extended Google Sound Search tile (with support for Shazam and Soundhound)
    - Added CPUInfo toggle tile
    - Added Compass tile
    - Slashified more tiles to match QS
    - Added toggle for notification counters
    - Ticker: Don't tick in do not disturb
    - Ticker: Fixed alignment in statusbar
    - Added per-app VPN data restriction ability
    - Improved performance of unclipped save layers
    - SystemUI: Don't vibrate on touchscreen camera gesture
    - Some more things maybe I can't remember more :p
