Ok. I reset my phone back to stock, took notes.
I'm on 986u1. Android 10 ui2.5 magisk patched.

Remove your simcard before you flash your phone. You don't want it to pick a carrier yet.

Start with root folder. Vendor. Default.prop
Change active sim from 1 to 2
And ss to dsds

Go next into optics. Go into wwd carrier , customer.xml scroll down and change esim from false to true
Go into network.xml and add the same line csc feature ril support esim true.......

Change any other settings you wish to activate like real time net speed call recording etc...

Next find your carriers folder and copy the omc and any other files except customer.xml and network.xml , move those into wwd folder but rename the ones already in there or delete them which ever you want to do

Next. Rename the folder of your carrier to anything you want. Then rename the wwd folder to the name of your carrier. In my case I'm t-mobile. So the tmb I names to t1 and wwd to TMB.
Go to prison and swap names of folders in same fashion

Go into where your modem firmware and in oem file change xxxxxxxxxx....la/ss....to xxxxxx./dsds/...

Then go into imei folder and set the carrier from xaa to whatever it you use

Thats quick and dirty of it.

Power off phone after you modify files. Insert sim card and power back on,

After it loads you should now have sim manager under connection settings, when you first boot it will ask you to search for mobile plan
Thank you for posting this! The only thing is the directions are not clear.
Can you please explain a few things?
1. "And ss to dsds" - Where exactly I need to change ss to dsds?
I couldnt find those strings in default.prop pr build.prop
2. WWD carrier is some Chinese carrier, do I have to use WWD or it could be done in own carrier? TMB?
3. There is no eSim string in customer.xml in WWD
4. "Go into where your modem firmware and in oem file change xxxxxxxxxx....la/ss....to xxxxxx./dsds/"
Do I leave the string with SS in in oem_hw.txt and add a second string with DSDS like on your screenshot or r replace it?

Thanks again for your hard work!

the wwd is in list of carriers, i use it because its only one not coded, the xml is in english. the 986u1 has it in its list of carriers, the ss to dsds is the ril radio config, scroll through mu buils and you will see ss at end of one of the strings and then you can see where i changed to dsds, ss is single sim, dsds is dual sim dual stand by
if you want to use single sim option the you need both ss and dsds as it sets configs for each mode,

the way i have it posted in pics worked for me, your config might be a little different, this is just way i got it to work on mine

I have the same SM-N986U1 as you, but I do not see that string anywhere in prop. I did however found it in \vendor\build.prop but the string is persists.radio.multisim.config=ss
Actually looks like I made some progress, but when I am trying to add the plan from Sim card menu, its searching for a plan indefinately and QR code is greyed out...
Sorry to bother you, but just trying to get eSIM working :)

No bother, I wanted mine to so I don't have puny 128 gb memory and 1 Sim, couldn't get 512gb in copper bronze. Main reason I bought single Sim was I was promised dsds by Samsung via esim when I pre-ordered. So to get color I wanted I had to choose 128 gb and ss

I also bought dual Sim 512 copper 9860 and it was promised esim. Samsung = LIES TO SELL PRODUCTS

Mine was greyed out , I used qr scanner to add plan. From the quick menu. T-mobile sent me qr code and it added fine.

Yes. Euicc is service that enables lpa to talk to modem for service. You have to have esim client. One version of Google sim manager has it built in for Google fi but it works .
You have qpst Qualcomm tool ?

Nope, I am trying to get euccservice.apk from any samsung snapdragon firmware... I edited one from Exynos version, it installs but fails when I open up Sim card manager. How did you get it to work with Google Sim card manager?
Exynos won't work as hardware it's looking for isn't there. Snapdragon uses snapdragon sdx55 modem ,exynos uses their own cluster and modem.
I don't know how exactly it worked. I am going to reset my 9860 and post guide like for 986u1. There's more tweaks I'm learning. All this time off work and my head hurts so bad every heartbeat makes my eyes feel like their going pop out my head. It's not productive now.
I will keep trying. When I spoke to Samsung hk they said they had plans to enable it in mid year when more local carriers support it. We may get lucky and not have to back door it.
There's a certificate it has to install during boot that activates both ril lpa interfaces for it to work. I think I changes something I forgot and don't remember it . I opened every file I could find. I've bricked and reset this phone 1k times. It saves certain settings in several files even if you wipe device they persist ,
Just like if you factory reset it should go to tgy tgy tgy tgy , but every time I reset I stay on chc wwdwwdtgy so it's saving settings. I found some of these in recovery and deleted the logs.
Yall have good night and keep trying. I will reset soon as I feel better

Thats cool! I am still trying to figure out how to do it for my 9860. Just rooted yesterday and ready to go.
I don't have it fully working yet on it , I did on 10 ,
I had it on my 9860 but un rooted because my aaa app decided to go secure so I had keep one of my phones un rooted. I am a aaa repair shop and I have to use their stupid app to dispatch my drivers. Ugh. Why can't we get what we pay for with out having go through all of this
