If someone is interested in testing and making a list of bugs in CM11 (as I'm a bit busy nor), here is a build: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5KRmU8P96dlbzloMzY5UGpIaE0/view?usp=sharing

What I have found so far:
- Wifi
- Taking photos in camera (preview and video works fine)
- Settings not showing the model in "About"

REMEMBER: I'm not resposible for any damage you may get by using this ROM, although I have tested it and it didn't put the phone on fire :)

headphone volume

I think Huawei have put a volume restriction on the headphone output but the usual local.prop edits which worked on their other phones doesn't work. Can anyone help?

remove carrier name from status bar

ro.config.hw_showSimName=true which goes in local.prop rather than build prop.

edit: found local.prop in /data/cust/prop/
the line is in there, testing now

edit: didnt hide it
I tried that and a few other simple edits of system files a week or so ago, and none of them worked...
It seems the normal way to rid yourself of the carrier text is via an Xposed Framework module, which we can not run either for the time being.

If you are feeling brave then this seems to be the only possible way to do it without Xposed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773879
It involves decompiling the SystemUI.apk and replacing some values in /res/layout/status_bar.xml with a zero, then recompiling and replacing the original.
Not worth the effort (or risk) in my view, I dislike the carrier label, but not enough to go to that level of messing around. I've already lowered the screen dpi to 215 to give a bit more space on the status bar so the carried name has shrunk making it less painful to look at.

*I'll be very interested (and pleased) if anyone can find a simpler way to achieve this, especially one where we just edit something in build.prop, local.prop or similar...

A problem. Why UPDATE.APP not working for my phone? "a invalid package" error. Downloaded from different places (checksums match) - the same error. Finally I bricked my phone with experiments arround Link2SD... :(

are you using twrp/cwm or stock recovery ?
update.app can only be flashed with stock recovery.

Of course, reflashed stock recovery, after that tried flash UPDATE.APP. I think, may be do not works because stock recovery is from that UPDATE.APP, too? I havn't original stock recovery, after flashing deals with CWM/TWRP . . .

have you try to force update?

copy dload folder (with inside update.app) on ext-sdcard
turn off the phone, and hold the Volume UP AND DOWN buttons and power button at the SAME TIME! Now you will see a screen with a progress bar saying "Unpacking"

this procedure completely reset phone

Before I flashed CWM recovery, I think, it saves original stock recovery.img like version for A20 does... Mea culpa...
@dimspace: All what you wrote I does. The phone works, but worse. For example - when I close my browser, Google bar and Weather opens with a delay approx. 1 - 2 sec. Before that, it was not. I think that the sistem.img from that update.app is not quite the same as the real my stock rom. Icons are not quite the same like before, too.
@fdc77: I tried this method, but phone goes to loop reboot - a moment I saw black screen, after that for a second I saw recovery and again everything from the beginning. WHEN I must release all three buttons?
And - on SD may be present anything else without dload folder with UPDATE.APP?

Release power button when you see huawei boot logo and the other button when process start.
Process started (yellow letters runing) and quickly stoped with error "update fail". Saw the words "error" and somthing else.
After error opens recovery page similar as stock rekovery (Is it? Actually I have CWMR...) . There I saw recovery type: "Y550-L01V100R001C00B239S".

EDITED: Tried update with CWM recovery and bricked one more time. Now after pressing Reboot, phone reboots directly in CWMR.

you MUST use stock recovery, with cwm or twrp doesn't work
first flash stock recovery if you don't have it, just flashed with the metod explained by dimspace some post above, than retry to force update

Sorry if my english is so bad if you don't understand what i'm wrote ;)
With 3 buttons flashing I got errors.
After trying with CWR - bricked phone - boots direcly to recovery.
Can't flash system.img with fastboot method for now. Works only CWM recovery. Nothing more.
