A few weeks ago, part of my screen stopped functioning as it should. The image would still display properly, but the touchscreen wouldn't respond on some horinzontal zones.
My device is s-off and rooted. A few weeks earlier, somehow the OTA ICS update wouldnt work, so I forced the S_OFF_4EXT_RECOVERY_OTA_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1-1.20.401.8_release_2627623qpt0ma8rnwgn0qq.zip. I say forced because it didn't work on the first hand, I had to comment some "IF" statement in a file in the zip file for the update to work (I can't fInd the post back).
Before I sent it to RMA, I reset to factory defaults, wiped data and cache, then tryed to unroot and relock it without success.
I thus had removed all the setcpu alike apps, but left root and unlocked.
Awesome news by the post this morning, my phone was repaired! According to the RMA, they replaced the display module under warranty. Even better, the phone was still S-OFF, and there was a microSD in the phone containing HTC's 397Mb PG86IMG.zip with stock 1.20.401.8 (please let me know if this file is needed)
They downgraded the system but repaired the phone under warranty... kudos or luck?
It might be worth mentioning that the phone was sent to repair in the dynafix RMA center in Belgium, I guess many repair centers wouldn't proceed on an s-off phone.
