Sorry I don't see what the "rub" is?

RAZR HD (xt925) has stock FileManager app.

Is someone saying that the RAZR HD FileManager app is different than the one on Atrix? If so, why would the dev say this should work on RAZR HD? There's some confusion here...
Yes, vzw RAZR HD has different stock Files app than Atrix HD. Can't speak for dev, but there are numerous posts in the 30 plus pages that describe the fact that vzw FileManager (aka Files) app on vzw RAZR HD does not let you mount remote storage.

Sounds like the dev doesn't realize there is a difference between xt926 and xt925

Those of us with xt925 are not on verizon, and DO have the stock filemanager app on our phone.

Now if the RazrHD filemanager app is somehow different than the Atrix's, that's a different story.
Not dev - probably just me. I didn't know xt926 is vzw and xt925 is what? Has anyone successfully used atrix hd exploit on xt925 RAZR HD?

the stock "files" app on xt925 _does_ allow mounting remote storage.

xt925 is the GSM version of RAZR HD. It's used in the rest of the world outside USA.

so far no one has successfully used this exploit on the xt925 which is why they are asking for help from the dev... there is is this "read only filesystem" error.

If you type `mount` in an ad shell or in any terminal on the device, and look at the rfs0, is it listed as ro? I saw some posts for bell Atrix HD that _could_ mount remote storage but also had read only filesystem - turns out it was different version of FileManager app. Maybe similar circumstance for xt925.

Can you rollback to ICS and use Dan's motokill exploit? Then use voodoo and find the jb ota updates on xda? I think mattlgroff has made a utility for this here:

Sorry for the late reply.. busy times..

My european XT925 has the stock file manager app and mounts the samba correctly. As told by the dev, the exploit won't allow root on this device because of the different permissions mapping.

Statement by the dev:
... In that case, the reason it's uid 1000 is because the Samba mount
utility on the device is mapping root to the "system" user.

Short version: instead of root privileges, you can get "system"
privileges, which is close but not quite the same. I can put something
together to finish the job, but it would take a little work...
Its up to him if its worth the work for a non full root exploit.

Maybe we should put together a bounty for this? Might make it more worthwhile for the developer :)
That's what the atrix HD folks did. Raised over 450$

XT925 users - have you tried to unlock your boot loader via Motorola side (see my earlier post above for Telstra. Once unlocked you can push clockworkmod recovery to your recovery and the push Su. You're lucky if you _can_ unlock your boot loader then you don't need safe strap for custom ROMs like cm10. I know you fear voiding warranty and fallout from carrier.

Post your carrier and let's seen if anyone has unlocked without issues.
