I just wanted to post my experience with the TQTHL 11800mAh extended battery. I recently picked up a Verizon Note 4. I suspected the battery to be the original, and while it would last through the day, didnt last as long as I would like, especially with the brightness turned all the way up. As beautiful as the display is on this phone, I wasnt able to enjoy it as I should. So, I set out to do some homework on batteries.... knowing there are so many knockoffs out there now for factory replacements.
I came here and read about this battery, and thought... "why not"? I mean, I am a light user by today's standards, but liked the idea of this battery. I ordered it here from Amazon:
TQTHL 11,800 Battery I followed advice I read about making sure it was charged fully before use, so I charged it until the lightning bolt disappeared, not when it said "100%". I then began using it. Now remember, I am a light user.... but I still got almost 7 days out of the initial charge. I didnt let the phone run down till it shut off, as the display was so dim, it could not be seen at 1%. I then charged it again until the lightning bolt disappeared, and am not over 2 days with 70% left. So, I have nothing but positive things to say about the battery's performance. I also, have no issue with the cover/back that comes with it, other than I wish it had a little more of a "soft rubbery" grip to it, so when you lay it down, it would grab a little better. But, I wouldnt take any points off for that, as that is just opinion. Some people like a hard case. I like it soft so it will grip and not slide. The weight of the battery does make this quite a bit heavier. On my digital scale, this is what I came up with:
Phone W/Factory Battery/No Case = 6.25oz
Phone W/Factory Battery/CaseMate Case = 8oz
Phone W/TQTHL Battery/TQTHL Case = 12.25oz
So it essentially doubles the weight of the phone. This was not an issue for me, as it made the phone more stable in my older hands. What was an issue for me, was reception. I live in a fringe area to begin with, and Verizon is the only carrier with service here. I normally run about -95db to -110db, but am able to make/receive calls dependably. The TQTHL extended battery, covers the phone antenna, and degrades my signal strength down to -120db to -130db, causing me to have dropped calls, and the phone having difficulty locking on a signal. I never even thought of this when I ordered the battery.
I absolutely LOVE this battery, but will more than likely sell it and find a stock size replacement.... probably an Anker. As much as I love the battery and its performance, it does me no good if I cant use the phone. If you have at least a decent signal where you live, then I highly recommend this battery. If you are in a fringe area, I wouldnt recommend it due to the battery covering the antenna and hindering reception.
