I bought it, you can see my photos under the news section about the potential bad battery life in DF, I don't mind the phone where it's at now, however now the issue is that the battery isn't reading properly and any widget I run says the battery is at x% and won't drop or move until I restart the phone

$37 for the 2750 battery with corp discount, however I have had great success with $10 2600 extended batteries from ebay with my Incredible. One of them lasts just as long as my official HTC 2600 battery. Something to keep in mind.
Now my question is, will the evo battery's work with our phones, or are they completely different?

Big, Yes. Ugly, Yes.

I picked one up on launch day. I am actually charging it now.
I plan to run it with the screen at %50 with GPS and BT on to see what the actual results are. Truth be told I am not really underwhelmed with the stock battery. My expectations were low. But I went in knowing what to expect it as I got an Incredible at launch, and coming from a BB I really struggled with power management. I have learned that it is part of the cost of admission, and as a result have adapters everywhere and with the proliferation and wide adoption of micro USB, fortunately I am never too far away from some extra juice in a pinch.

Not ideal but, as they say, It is what it is...

Can anyone just take a picture of both battery doors with their shiny, new thunderbolt? Thanks =)
There's a blog post about it here, with lots of pictures.

Nope, it won't. I have an old EVO battery (at least I'm pretty sure it was a spare for my EVO) and it's about the same size, but the terminals are not in the same location.

Wow, forget that. I ain't no chubby chaser.

lolz, but for those times when you'll be out and about where you can't feed the chub, at least he/she can live off the fat longer.

Seriously, if you're going to bother with something that's only double the battery life that is so fricking big and ugly to the phone, why not just buy a spare and keep it in your pocket? At least the phone itself doesn't become so unwieldy. The only advantage to the extended is that you don't have to power down mid-day to swap (which to me is less inconvenient than that fat beast). ;)

I thought this might be the case

My only beef with the extended battery at this time is the lack of cases from VZW that will fit with this giant thing in, I'd rather have to not worry about grabbing my other battery or making sure it's charged then what it looks like but with the added wait I feel like this device is going to hit the floor hard if it does and thatsy main worry! Stock battery lasted half day on full bump charge with heavy usage, it's new, what can I say, love showing off lte!

I just bought the extended battery today from a corporate VZW store.. it's taking HOURS to charge this thing.. whereas the stock battery usually charges to full in under 2 hours.. this thing's going past 4 hours already.

Makes me want one but man is it ugly and hideous!
Try not to worry so much about the appearance, we could all complain about how it looks or how much bulk it adds on. Most important is how long will the extended battery will get us through a simple work day or an entire day.

All that we should be worrying about and I'm still in the search for it. A holster or hip case that can actually hold the phone securely and in another post I've mentioned how much support the EVO 4G got that it got this awesome extended battery case with holster (which I hope Thunderbolt will get) :D

Okay... can someone explain why though the battery has less than twice the capacity (2750 vs 1400) it's over three times as big??? seriously... for that size it should be well over 3k mha... Major fail from HTC, looks like they've been taking lessons from Motorola...

Apparently the MyTouch 4G uses the same battery as the Thunderbolt. With that in mind, considering the cost in dollars and size/bulk added to the phone itself with the extra large double-capacity battery, I think I'll opt instead for one or two of these standard spares at $13 each and keep one in my wallet.

it just depends on your needs and priorities. The phone is big and bulky enough after coming from Galaxy S and Nexus 1/Nexus S phones...I'm not interested in making it even thicker in my pocket and more awkward to hold. A standard sized, stock voltage replacement is only $13 (as linked above) and will give me the same double battery life with the slight inconvenience of having to carry the spare in my wallet or pocket. Obviously one of those YMMV things for all of us.

I will probably get flamed for posting this, just because people are so fiercely divided on issues like extended batteries.

I'm going to put my opinion out there for anyone on the fence though...it might help.

I ordered with my corporate discount...ever since the extended battery showed up, I knew I had to have one. I was pleasantly surprised that the ordering system let me add one to my basket when I got my phone. For $35 bucks, this thing could be pure crap, and I probably wouldn't shed a tear.

Sure enough, there it was when my overnight package showed up. I never even bothered with the original battery or battery door. Popped it in, plugged it up...yeah, the charge time seemed excessive, but beyond that, there I was with my brand new phone.

Now I live in Dallas, so I immediately went to the actual speedtest website in the browser and rocked some 4G...it seems like there is going to be some nice utility there.

Then I got in my car and drove to Austin for SXSW...and here I am at work on Monday, and I'm at 27%...haven't charged once.

The moral of the story, in case you aren't aware, is that Austin is not an LTE market.

I can't speak for 4G, because no one can. You and I are both early adopters. This may be the price we pay for being in the front row. Did you really expect sunshine and roses? I'm guessing these devices won't see acceptable thresholds of juice until we are running custom firmware...guys...that's why you got the HTC in the first place and not the Atrix...

That's why Verizon is forking over unlimited 4G when they admitted that tiered plans will be here as early as May...that's the price of admission.

So let me make a recommendation that I don't consider bold at all.

If you are in a 3G market and have problems with the battery life, cast aside a little vanity and double your battery life...the extended battery will probably be one of the best price/performance ratio purchases you make this year.

If you are in a 4G market and are unwilling to sacrifice an extra quarter centimeter of depth on your phone to double your battery life on a device that was rumored to have suboptimal battery life long before it launched...

Ain't that 14 day return window grand!

Seriously, does the extended battery door REALLY make a difference to you?

If you answered yes, good news...I heard Verizon just got last year's iPhone 4 in, and it's a very slim device.

EDIT:

Would like a case that fits (my only gripe), but that's how the cookie crumbles.
