Extra battery for the Galaxy Tab

Do you simply plug in the USB cable for the GT or any other device, like the Kindle (my partner) or the iPhone?

Still waiting for the unit, Amazon emailed today with the shipping confirmation

In the pictures it shows different tips and adaptors, including a tip for the GT, I have exactly the same tip ,bough for a few quid in ebay or Amazon (cant remember), so if my seller does not include the adaptor I'm OK, but it you ask probably they won't mind to include a free adaptor, if not the tips are cheap anyway

The battery fells well made, it is 92x98x29mm (average) doesn't fell too heavy (at least to me)
It is rated 11000mA but at 3.7V which is the naked dry truth but somehow I was expecting it rated at 5V (the output voltage), aaah the magic of marketing, still 40.7W never the less .

Mine had a retractable USB to DC connector a mini USB adaptor and WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE A Nintendo DS adaptor
It didn't include the Galaxy tab charging tip (the one used to charge from a PC) but thankfully I had one bought some time ago for 3 or 4 quid

Does it charge at the 2a required by the tab?

the output is rated 1A but it does (the tab does not require 2A that is the max rated charge)
indeed it charge the TAB, it charged mine from 70% to fully in I guess under an hour?( I lost track doing stuff and when checked ithe tab was charged) , this is with the screen off but wifi and bluetooth ON
Would I buy again with what I know now? Yes, but i will need more time with it to see its true performance
All in all I am pretty happy with it, but if someone is going to purchase one, remember ask for the Galaxy tab tip, or if they do not provide it you need to get one from ebay or somewhere ,
it charge my tab without the tip but Im pretty sure that it will be slow (just as if i plug the tab without the USB tip to the PC)

Hi there,

I think I'm missing something - is there an addition thing to plug into the Galaxy Tab to charge it or are you talking about the USB lead? I can charge my tab from my PC's USB, but it is slow...

The galaxy tab and I think the Ipad too ( but correct me if I'm wrong in this one) wont properly charge (fast charge) from a after-market wall chargers or from PC USB ports, (they will but in what is known as trickle mode, very slow)

You can enable fast charge by using the Samsung wall charger or by using a little usb/usb tip between any after-market wall charger (or pc port) and the tab.

Those tips are inexpensive adaptors that allow to use any USB out charger, they consist of a couple of resistors that connect to the tab and set a"enable" to the tab charging port so it knows it has to switch to charging mode.

If you wish you can make and tip adaptor yourself with a couple or resistors a USB socket and a tab cable (search these forums there is a whole thread with diagrams included)

Where did you purchase this? Anyway each AA bat has 1.5 volts so 4 totals 6volts. How that would not damage the tab?

The output of this charger is about 5V 1A and charging current is lower than the AC adapter (5V 2A) of the original GT-P1000. Therefore, charging time is little bit longer then using original battery
