people have been modifying sim trays for the s7's/s7 edges to run dual sims. pretty sure the hardware is all there for these devices. videos are on youtube.
yes and all of the videos use the same IMEI as SIM 1, which could lead to the blacklist of the IMEI.

edit above* ment getting picked up by carrier as 2 different phones due to 2 sims but using same imei and that would get blocked.
unless you use different carriers for two SIMS, but still there will be chance for them to be blacklisted if carriers exchange data, or you are under same network with sub-carriers like Virgin Mobile and Optus

All carriers in the EU exchange information, but I doubt the phone would register 2 sims as it wouldn't make from Samsung/carrier end to allow it if it could be registered as something illegal but I am yet to try 2 active sim at once.

quick update as I just double checked something, when my active sim is inserted into tray 2 it looks like phone gets signal but when trying to call it, it goes straight to voicemail, so 2nd tray might not be activated after all.

The problem is the imei to 0000000000 to second slot. The sim in second slot is alive and operative as signal and access to sim details but do not can authentication on network of operator because the N8 present wrong 0000000000 imei. Box as Z3x can resolve this problem ?

Only if we can write correct /efs/nv_data.bin, we can enable imei on second slot using also old my Nokia dead imei.

I'm not sure that is all that's needed. On the dual SIM F variant firmware, it has an additional RIL file for running in dual SIM mode, as well as another sim toolkit app for the 2nd SIM.

The single sim devices use libsec-ril.so in lib64, but the dual SIM phones have and use libsec-ril-dsds.so

Can you have 2nd toolkit apk and library for upload?

No ! Sure. I have installed DS Firmware, rooted and modify /system/build.prop file to not include profile single module from /efs directory. In the same build.prop there is also line with set to 2 the multislot parameter (samsung producted prefered dual sim :) and clear data in recovery for restart installation as dual sim. At boot the N8 start as dual sim and install all library. In my N8 there is the libsec-ril.so and the libsec-ril-dsds.so file, but nothing work and in #06*# the second slot is with imei 0000000000. All work in software, i can lock unlocked all setting for second sim and carrier, it is installed also the SIM Utility of my carrier different from the first slot ! All is OK ! but with IMEI to 00000 i not can phone.

You can try to change it with: XPOSED IMEI Changer Pro or another app from google play.

I do not know if it can work .. Because the application only masks original imei only for the applications ... But for the telephone operator no ... But try nothing happens

Perfect ! I have try to install Imei Changer with Xposed Framework and not work :( Only one module change in *#06# the imei and set both slots with the same Imei, because however it does not support two imei numbers. But also in this last case nothing work, as if the module worked only at software level not at the radio level.

now I am looking for documentation about the decrypt of the EFSv2 format of the nv_data.bin file that generates two files in the folder /data/misc/radio, named ahrh and ahrh2 for second slot imei.
it is encryped using id model number but I'm at zero and I do not find much on the net

if it helps anything, on my dual sim the only difference in imei is the last 2 digits, as in it end in 30 for sim 1 and sim 2 is 28

yes I know ! I also have a S8 Dual Sim and it's like that. the second slot usually has two numbers less than the first one

I thought there was thousands of duplicate imei numbers out there not being black listed.

Yes ! I read several posts that warn about this and to avoid problems I simply put a sim first in slot 1 and then, the same removed from slot 1, re-inserted in slot 2. But nothing! It seems that only at *#06# there is a change, but really only slot 1 continues to work.
