If you read this thread, it says if it's both same IMEI the dual SIM will also work, except another SIM will be totally offline instead of busy when one is in call. I think that's pretty good sacrifice to make a single model Dual SIM. Now all we need to do is find a way to decrypt efs partition and Copy SIM1 IMEI to SIM2

Re the 2 SIMS for Australia. I have an Amaysim (Optus) as mine main SIM and I threw in a Boost (Telstra) to see how it works. I can confirm it works fines. I can adjust the preferred SIM for calls and data but I received calls and texts from both at any time. I called one number whilst already on the phone on the other and it went to message bank as expected. Then reversed the process on the different numbers. All good. It shows as 2 IMEI numbers one for each SIM but it is the same number. It has the option to send texts or calls from either SIM. My main purpose was to use as both personal and work phone.

No ! i have read many document and serious imei change procedure work only via box and it work on radio module command with warrenty bit to 0x0 (not root device). decrypting for efs v2 i found very pour documentation. for is more simple sell my single slot n8 and buy duos n8 with 128gb now.

I remembered there is some software with name "EFS_professional" can write the IMEI the phone (NOTE 3), just change the USB connection to some special model.
But not for Samsung CPU

So technically, yes, it can be done by someone with the tool/magic box, but not for us,
Cheers

You are rooted right? If so, can you do the following? It's at your own risk though.

WARNING: THIS METHOD IS NOT TESTED. DON'T BLAME ME IF YOUR PHONE GETS DAMAGED. THIS IS JUST A CONCEPT. THIS IS ALSO NOT AN IMEI CHANGE. YOU WILL BE USING SAME IMEI ON BOTH SIM IF IT SOMEHOW MIRACULOUSLY WORKS AND THAT HAS EVERY CHANCE TO BLACKLIST YOUR IMEI. I ALSO DON'T SUPPORT IMEI CHANGE. IT IS ILLEGAL IN MOST COUNTRIES AND NOT ALLOWED IN XDA TOO.

1. Find .cert file if possible from /efs/cert folder. (it should be something similar. My note 4 has a folder named cert that can be seen through Qualcomm tool which is not accessible at all. this should be accessible in Exynos mobile phones)
2.Copy it to PC, and use notepad++ to edit it.
3.It should have something like, Model, SerialNo., IMEI,IMEISign,PubKey,pubkeysign with hashes.
4.All you need to do is, Copy from IMEI to pubkeysign, and paste it again below the pubkeysign. then replace the second part IMEI to IMEI2, IMEISign to IMEISign2. Just add '2' on the end.
5.Save it. Copy it to same folder. Replace the file with same permission as the original one.

This is the kind of a way it is done in S7 to get second sim IMEI which will be same in both sim1 and sim2. but the thing is, s7 is able to be written with box software. Note 8 is not supported yet that i know of. There is one box (GCpro)that claims it can do it, given that knox is 0x0. but i doubt it as there is very little proof and the shop i work at doesnt have that box, nor any note 8 to test at.

Anyone tried this?
Sorry, cant post link to click on because i'm a new user...

I tried it but the required tool always says "card not found". I installed an older version v29.5 where this error is fixed but in this version the exynos version of the note 8 is not included. I think that tutorial is not helpful.
