EzCap USB Video Grabber OTG on Note8/DeX?

I've tried a few apps that should be able to grab video from for example a VCR via this dongle. However none of the apps are able to detect any signal whatsoever.

Can it be done? Or am I overestimating the power of the N8/DeX?

You need an EzCap with the following chip UTV007

Ah, right. I opened my dongle up but no UTV007 marking. Says it was made in 2009, might be too old hehe
