Yeah I tend to wait for kdz. I'd love to have my phone rooted but I'm scared of soft bricking it like you. Did you attempt to inject a different version of firmware of the root into your phone so it bootlooped?

I didnt try to inject root on my own, no unbuntu setup.
I used the OP image. Unawares that mismatched versions would brick my phone.
The OP has since added a warning, but was too late for many of us that tried.
I thought I would just be upgrading my system it being from the same model.
If your current version is10o or 10w, you can apply the same in OP to your phone and be rooted without worry. Unless somerhing else happends. Ymmv
Shortly after applying this, someone else was kind enough to link me a rootedsystem of my original in the main thread. But it was too late, I already screwed mine up.
Thats why I warned you.
If you have 10a. I have a rootedsystem. Img for it.
Rooting is simple. But without a way to 100% recover using kdz, root isnt worth the risk atm imho.
